Will be picking this up asap. Couldn't count how many times I 'almost' got an 8080, but passed. Lovely.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

You DO know how to enable VST2 in Cubase 14 (and even 15) right?wagtunes wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:01 am Does this come in vst3 format because Cubase 14 does not like vst2 anymore.

I tried but all it does is freeze Cubase.

Out of curiosity are there no emulations for this previously? Diva or something?

go to the VST Plug-in Manager, click the "VST2" button on the bottom, and then restart Cubase.wagtunes wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:01 am Does this come in vst3 format because Cubase 14 does not like vst2 anymore.
For Apple Silicon Macs, VST2 support only works if Cubase is running in Rosetta mode.
Also works in version 15

It doesn't work. Cubase freezes and when I restart it vst2 is still not enabled.IvyBirds wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 4:02 amgo to the VST Plug-in Manager, click the "VST2" button on the bottom, and then restart Cubase.wagtunes wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:01 am Does this come in vst3 format because Cubase 14 does not like vst2 anymore.

I can't confirm this in the case of viper....djanthonyw wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:02 amJE-8086 will be superior as it's the actual JP8K minus any AD/DA from the hardware.Electrohead wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 11:49 pmWhat is meant by this??? I was already to buy and was like UGGGG no MAC. I am not familiar with this Dev, but his sound sets and VST’s sound great!!

Yes. The plugin folder contains a vst3 file. I had to move the file to Program Files\Common Files\VST3 for my DAW to detect it.wagtunes wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:01 am Does this come in vst3 format because Cubase 14 does not like vst2 anymore.

Happy days again !
I owned jp8080 when it came out, brand new, but life has sometimes other plans, so I sold it long time ago.

And which technically is piracy if one doesn't own the actual device (IANAL but one might have to dump the ROM himself too). Let's not forget this small detailSuper Piano Hater 64 wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 1:18 am Most likely the upcoming JE-8086, which runs the original JP-8080 firmware.
I have mixed feelings. From one side I like the emulators for archival and nerding (love the technical details on how and what was done). From the other I can see Adam picking a classic non-DSP56300 VA synth to emulate when Viper was finished, only to down the road see the JP8080 emulator announcement and see history repeating. Probably, depending on in which stage this was at the time, also being pressured to release before it just to limit the risk of losing revenue potential.

Aside from that. Is it your opinion that the example that starts at 0:34 and the one that starts on 3:20 sounds good? Both examples are huge differences in sound between Airwave and an actual JP8080.xmstkvr wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 10:16 pmAs if you would ever work on a virtual synth and then despise it because a dial on the envelope is a bit different looking than what you supposedly remember to be on some hardware. Gimme a break. Who creates sound like that? Exactly, no one.Dark Fiber wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 9:35 pm Would that mean that you have to dial in Airwave in a completely different way than a JP8080 while this is an emulation?

You tweak until it sounds good (or not good).
I can sense you need a friend or two.
Maybe not even because Airwave couldn't nail it, but more so because the developer did not put the effort in his comparison.

Roland provide the firmware. You don't even need an account. Still illegal? There is the quite recently released Chro-Nyx, which runs in Reaktor, that's something.Benjamin923 wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 3:59 am Out of curiosity are there no emulations for this previously? Diva or something?
Which I was planning to buy, but now... hmm, must test
