Well done. Still not a Rev2.

Ok ive done demoing properly Proxima and its a nice synth. Although i did expected it to be as big sounding as Repro 5 or Model 80. But it doesnt, i dont hear the heavynes of those synths. And i did demoed without the effects, it kinda sounds like Prophet, but not as heavy especially in the bottom end. Overal tone reminds me Dune 3 alot, cant pin point exactly why tho but when i turn on effects it sounds to me even more like Dune 3. Not to say its a bad synth, but my expectations were a bit different.

And lets talk about the price, its very expensive for what it is i think. Maybe if there would be a variety of different effect modules and ability to reorder them then 139 eu would be right. Right now 99 eu would be more appealing and even more appropriate price. But hey the developer evaluates the price.

I found this as well, but in fairness I find this with many developers. For example I find the Arturia emulations to sound more like each other than any given synth does to the same synth modeled by another dev. Same for TAL. Same for GForce. Same for Tone2. Even I find U-he synths to have a bit similar character to each other, and I certainly find this synapse one to sound more like legend and dune than to other prophets for example.

I don't know why or if others agree. Is it oscillators, presets, fx, envelopes, not sure.

I've got a similar impression. 140,- is totally ok for me for a great synth and because of Legend HZ I expected something in the same vein.
Now that Proxima has a more basic capacity instead I would expect it to make up for the price in other areas than raw power.
Personally I think FX is not important because we've purchased so many great FX plugins we want to use instead. But of course for a high price the synth could be a bit more refined. For example, the options could be improved to adjust the synth more to the personal preferences. I would like to see a switch between rate vs. constant time for glide for example.

Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:25 pm Richard, I would LOVE to see the Proxima UI-style implemented in the other Synapse synths for the non-Reason plugin versions at least. Example: redesign Obsession's GUI so the mod matrix is front-right, there's a keyboard towards the bottom that can flip to be FX and mod-sequencers, etc.
Hehe, I had exactly the same thought! Once Proxima had reached its final UI state, I noticed it became such a breeze to design patches compared to previous parameter layouts. If we get around to redesign Obsession from scratch, we'll almost certainly want to add this or that feature though, so it'll likely be a larger project :)

Richard
One thing to add, unison detune and pan spread, please :)

That is already there in the synth unless you are talking about obsession :)
In Obsession i add different Pan settings for each voice to get similar result so Detune and voice spread would be great to have for quicker setup + maybe make a polyphonic unison mode so you are not locked to Mono unison only.

That would be possible, however a Supersaw would be much more efficient CPU-wise. Otherwise the polyphony is cut in half or more which limits its usefulness, ihmo.

Ears of cloth! It sounds NOTHING like DUNE, although DUNE is versatile enough to sound pretty close to it, and it has a way fuller bottom end than RePro-5.

It's already in there, you're probably just not bright enough to work it out.

Yes ears full of cloth. Buy a subwoofer and turn on the analyzer then you will see/hear ;-) and im not talking about buttplug

Ok if obsession has unison detune knob to detune voices, show me please. Richard even knows he didnt add this knob, but i suppose we are both not bright enough.

Post

It sounds like a Prophet 600 and the Prophet 600 has a different sound than a Pro one or a Prophet 5 so comparing it against them makes no sense.

It doesn't have a single 'detune' knob, but you can adjust the individual tuning of each voice.

i know that, but thats not what i asked about right? :) i asked specificaly one knob, not 8 or 16 to dial :)

So again does it have 1 knob to detune? No. Other methods that are not one knob are not alternatives.

Post

They clearly are alternatives, just not what you want.

Try requesting a detune knob in the appropriate place. They seem very open to suggestions.
