Hi everyone. I made a bank of 79 presets for Sonigen Modular. There's also an audio demo of some of them. Let me know if you try them 👍
It's called Komosa Bank 1

Sonigen Modular very cool, will never be obsolete, many thanks!

I agree, I don't know why it's not more popular. I think it flew under the radar before being abandoned. It sounds great and can do most of the bread and butter subtractive stuff better than some paid synths. It seems like nobody really made the most of what it's capable of

Yeah, There's too many choices nowadays so most don't make the most of anything at all they just monkey-branch to the latest, fatest sound even though it probably uses way more resources than Sonigen... I had a hunch your music was probably good but I am not signed up there so not able to hear... You might also sign up at alonetone.com as a place to point peeps to that don't signup to anything just to hear That's where I upload to...

Anyways if one knows music one can use anything to make it with... This guy made stuff that's better than much crap nowadays over 30 years ago using punchy 8-bit samples & just 4 tracks on Amiga-

Yeah I started out with Fasttracker. I don’t really enjoy using those complex super synths where you can make a track just by holding down one key. It’s never to my taste and I don’t want to go through a dozen tabs just to alter it, plus I prefer the old school synth sounds mostly.

You can hear my music on most platforms, there’s a few tracks here

OK, should've suspected you came from the tracker community... Solid tunes you got, nice job, alot better than much I stumble across... You got any XMs from the FT2 days? or are those well & gone? I have found some quite good tracker music through the years... Gotten into that myself in recent years made some tunes in AXS in 2023, love that mini-tracker, I have a thread over at the SunVox forum that's about to top a million views on AXS tracker... The forum is presently sign-in only otherwise I'd be over a million views, who woulda thought?

Here's my last tune done the render went a bit into saturation-

Previous tune in AXS-

Have done some work in Skaletracker too which is a very nice sounding tracker one just must be careful with the VST-VSTi used...

oh yes I remember AXS, I never really got to grips with the tracker section but had fun messing around with the synth part. I think I made some samples which were used in some tracks. I tried setting it up on an ancient laptop a while ago but the hardware wasn't compatible. I really should find something which is, just for old times sake

You can still find my old XMs. The most popular one was called Constellations which you can find here:
https://modland.com/pub/modules/Fasttra ... %20Komosa/

I remade it a few years again which you can hear here:

cool jazzy tunes of yours btw. You must have spent a lot of time using AXS till it becomes second nature. I'm sure I still remember the hotkeys from FT2 after about 25 years

Hey... Thanks, I listened to the second one while downloading the XMs, Sounds great! Been battling pellet stove now on wood heat till I fix it...
Yeah, AXS was a DOS deal but in 2001 the devs ported it to windows & gave it out free... The tracker sector does look constricted but they had a clever navigation system...
The 'Other Sound Software' at the SunVox forum still login only like the whole site but will probably revert to open soon views on my AXS thread are at 998,822 with a less than 3 year-old thread...
So the windows AXS pretty much runs on any windows I have a compilation-

https://archive.org/details/axs-3.04b-2.03

Has much in there that I made like tutorial GIFs, charts, song templates, render video, my synth bank, fan art, skins I made, etc...
AXS is a crash-free tracker which makes it probably the most stable music creation program in the entire world with total directory size of 460 KB & a 7-part multi-timbral synth that still sounds good... You can feed it 16 or 24bit WAVs mono or stereo of any size so does it crash if you feed it a 32bit?...Nope it just won't accept it... It's small but you can save songs several hundred MB in size no problem... 'Taint perfect though there is no panning in AXS, the only thing that gets panning is delay send which is a way to fatten a sound... It does have note velocity filter modulation & smart patterns which Arguru implemented in NoiseTrekker 2... Being as such one can also render out a track at a time & bring into a multi-track to really finish out...

Anyway enough of that, will be listening to your XMs today thanks again>>>

Sonigen beats some commercial synths with authority: Albatross V2 patch, for instance, sounds more CS-80-ish than some emulators of the CS. Good to know that I'm not alone who clings to it.

Post

Yeah & really like the 'Double Right-Click' on a knob to assign to either VST Param OR MIDI CC... Wish everything was like that...

it's a shame the developer abandoned the project. He could add a few new features (some way to do distortion would be good) and relaunch it. I think if more people were aware of it, this synth would be superpopular. It's so CPU friendly and sounds beautiful

Surge XT developers have picked up Shortcircuit sampler and OBXd synth and are doing a great job updating and improving them. Would be nice if the original dev open-sourced Sonigen.
