What do you use for a metronome in Tracktion?

Looks like my old Roland VS-880EX has finally gone kaput. And I'll have to spring for an audio interface and record directly in Waveform. I'm still using 12 (if it ain't broke...and all that), and it doesn't have a default metronome. Just wondering what folks are using for that.

I just create my own click track with basic drums, a single bar (or phrase) looped for the length of the recording. When drums are finished (enough), I delete the click track.

No different than using a metronome track in the old days. The advantage here is that instead of the simple doot-doot sounds of Waveform (yes, that's changeable, too), I can put in as many cues as I need, or deal with 3+2 over 4 or 2+3 over 4 accents if working in 5/4 time, etc. The template I use for my projects already has this track set up and ready to go: I just need to set the BPM at the start.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

What do you mean it doesn't have a default metronome? I started with Tracktion 2, and there's always been one there. The shortcut to activate it is "C." You can get to its settings in the lower left corner. There should be a button that says "Click" or "Click track."

I wonder if Waveform 12 has that...I'll check later on today. Thanks

That's an easy and good idea. Thanks

It does. Button lower left labelled Click (if lower stuff made visible).
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

 Wow, all this time, never noticed.

Thanks!

I also use Watchful's suggestion, with MT Drummer and a 4 bar loop (if appropriate for the track) so 3 bars + 1 bar fill to help if you have quiet passages to be counted; if you're doing 4 bar stuff...

I've been using the default metronome for about 20 years. I promise you that there is one!
