Is it of any use for those of us who don't use pads, strings, big chords etc. ?
Feels a bit overkill to use it as a monosynth, but if it sounds good..

To be honest, I've never found a use for it but it sounds so good I like to play it now and again, just for the sheer joy of hearing it.steffensen wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 6:00 amIs it of any use for those of us who don't use pads, strings, big chords etc. ?

That's because I'm a discerning buyer.

Could get it for 27 Euro. But then, I have Arturia one. I heard it doesn't sound better or worse. The CPU hit on Softube one is substantially higher. Does anyone have both? I just got Diva for VA and it just surpassed any of expectations. Never heard anything like that so far.

I have both.
I would suggest you listen to both and determine for yourself.. I think the Arturia one has more presets but doesn't sound nearly as good to me.

Hmm, doesn't sound nearly as good? That sounds like a big difference..zvenx wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 2:10 pm I would suggest you listen to both and determine for yourself.. to me the Arturia one has more presets but doesn't sound nearly as good to me.

To me... but others will disagree.. test them both out I would suggest.
Like Diva is really good, great back in the day, but there are other Emulations that surpass Diva in quality to me (like Korg Arp 2600 and PS-3300 and MultiPoly, UAD Anthem, Softube Models (almost all of them) Tal J-8, some of the GForce ones (like their Oberheims) and even u-he's Repro series), none of them except the MultiPoly do as much as Diva those though (in terms of blending/access to different Filters and Oscillators etc)... thus far anyway
.
Diva 2 of course whenever it happens will of course, whenever that happens, will change that equation.

The Softube version has a brighter hifi sound to it to make it sound more impressive compared to Arturia's clone that are much closer to how the Original sounds.Igro wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 2:08 pm Could get it for 27 Euro. Yeah, I don't recall ever playing the original, so I can't say which is closer, but indeed to me the softube does sound more impressive.
