No, but it has seemed pretty solid imo, and has much nicer overall feel for working with. I was using it just for a just few things but as it's been stable, I'm now using it for any ideas/new/in development stage tracks.

I am not using it for a project I am more progressed with and in the process of finishing off.

And again to someone who is asking when 6 is out. Next year. Company that exploit this form of license (subscription plus) does not have any interest to rush updates. Rather deliberately stagnate. And next year release will align with wide speculation that they are moving towards one update per year. As 6 will be released 12 month after last. Bingo!
Anyway! Bye!
You don't have to update ever. There are a near infinite potential masterpieces that could be made with the current version. You have an entire music studio on your futuristic computer device that most people in human history would have gone in debt to have. You don't have to cut and splice tape. You don't need to buy thousands of dollars of external gear.

To me, paying the equivalent of around 50 cents a day to do my favorite thing while getting updates for my DAW and supporting the company is a no brainer.

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

I understand your frustration but you don't have to update if you are happy with the version you have.

Option 2:
Pay for another year the day when Bitwig releases a update with the features that you want.

Paying in advance in hope that any software will give you the features you want within that year will only lead to disappointment ;)

The two core choices in software development, eloquently laid out by vroteg.

Cool story bro. Meanwhile, Bitwig has released seven mainline releases this year and six beta releases. All of us who had an active upgrade plan at the end of August will get 6.0 regardless of when it ships, too. Even if we stop paying right now.

Nice try but you'll be back

Let's be real. There was only one point release this year: 5.3 in February. 5.2 was released in April 2024 (10 months earlier).
Bug fix releases don't count, as they are not affected by the upgrade plan.
You cannot include 6.0 because it is still in beta. Including the six beta releases is just stupid.
The fact remains that the gaps between official releases are getting bigger.
Given the current state of the beta, 6.0 will probably not be released this year, so the gap is at least 11 months.

Maybe it's me, but I find it odd that there seems to be more concern among some people regarding the frequency of updates than getting the most out of the program as is. Part of it may be that I started making music using a 4-track cassette studio, so I appreciate the vast power that is easily accessible to musicians and composers at this time. I try to reflect on the positives, and ways to improve my craft, rather than worrying about the technicalities of software administration.

Well, maybe some people think the next big update will suddenly make them create banger tunes. Well, I’ve got some news for those people…

oh goodie, we’re “getting real”

Only if you don’t care about product quality

Look, the guy I responded to was implying that Bitwig’s pricing model encourages product stagnation. Given the release cadence that’s clearly not the case, regardless of your opinion of stupidity.

vroteg is one of the most transparent trolls I have ever seen and it is best to ignore them.

On subscriptions, I've been using Bitwig for something like ten years and only upgraded two or three times. You just wait for something compelling in an update, it's easy.

I think the issue might be that they explained the change to the license model with „we can stop collecting improvements for big feature releases and instead release much more frequently with small improvements“. And then they don‘t. Beta versions aren‘t releases. And effectively, they are still trying for big releases, they‘re just not major version numbers anymore.

There's famous producers that refuse to update from old versions of Pro Tools or Cubase, or software from 10+ years ago.

If I didn't like the version I have I wouldn't have bought a license.
Linux version?

there's still too much annoying shit going on with automation. i really don't like the new automation. it improves a few things i guess.
