Fantastic tips here I wasn't aware of!! Thank you MarkusTone2 Synthesizers wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 8:39 amI'd say yes.Neon Breath wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 4:41 am @Tone2 Synthesizers (& all too here if you know), LFO question for you guys.
For a true smooth random LFO, Is the Random→S&&H Noise Ramped the best type to achieve that smooth randomness?
Thx!
There are also several further ways to smooth things.
1) Step LFO:
- Use the "shape" knob for variable smoothing
2) You can smooth anything you like also in the Matrix:
- Matrix Slot 1: Select "LFO 1+-" (or anything you want to smooth) as source
- Matrix Slot 1: Select "X:=Value" as traget
- Matrix Slot 1: Sent send level to 50% (this will be the amount of modulation)
- Matrix Slot 2: Select "Function(X)->Filter(X)" as source
- Matrix Slot 2: Select whatever you like as target (Pitch/filter cutoff, etc)
- Matrix Slot 2: Set send level to something like 20%. The send level defines the smoothness

Wow! Thanks a lot for the kind words and thank you for supporting our small company!Trancer wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 8:48 am I bought Icarus 3 and Electra 3 and I highly recommend them.
These VSTs are far too underrated and truly deserve a major place in any VST arsenal.
And quite frankly, they easily hold their own against the market leaders.
Icarus 3 is incredibly effective.
A source of endless creativity.
Electra 3 offers endless inspiration.
It also offers immense potential.
Once again, I highly recommend purchasing Tone 2 products.
A huge thank you to Troels for his invaluable help and immense kindness.
A huge thank you to Markus for providing us with VSTs of this quality, a source of creativity and inspiration.

We started to work on Icarus 3.2. You can send us feature request and bug reports *before* it is released.
Already implemented:
- Significantly enhanced sound quality in 44 kHz. Reduced aliasing in resampling up to 24 dB.
- Drastically enhanced sound quality in 88 kHz samplerate. Reduced aliasing in resampling up to 40 dB.

Edit: Clarifying that I would like to see more filter types, an actual 2d matrix mode for wavetables, more modulation slots, a PPG-like lofi mode not requiring the resampling filter or oscillator mode, and proper filter FM via osc 3 for pitch ratios

Very exciting about Icarus 3.2!! Digging up some very niche requests
/url] which demonstrates IXA synthesis in PD, it seems close to PM but with an interesting tone - warmer, and a bit buzzier. Would be cool to have it in Icarus!

I love the additive play modes and all of the morph algorithms so would welcome any more of those. Inharmonic play modes with odd intervals - maybe even something Karplus inspired?
and/or more oscillator interactive modes (right now I think we have FM, Shape and AM between oscs) - phase distortion, or something like IXA synthesis could be interesting (here is a link about IXA https://nathan.ho.name/posts/ixa-synthesis/ ).
Or any other oscillator interactive modes you can think of! Not sure if any of these are interesting or easy to implement!
The Hollow modes are really interesting and a joy to use as well.
Thank you for asking for feedback and being interested in what folks want, even if we have no idea what implementation would look like!

Also, everyone has been asking for subdirectories for custom wavetables

Thank you for your feedback. I have received your email and added all your request to the feature-request database.Korg Supporter wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 1:18 pm

What I already can promise is more filter types. We'll discuss also your other reuqests.

Icarus already supports a vast number of microtuning modes. You can select them below the 'help' button on the top left.El°HYM wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 1:19 pm...MTS-ESP support.Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 12:17 pm We started to work on Icarus 3.2. MTS-ESP is interesting. I get the idea behind it and checked out the sourcecodes. There are additional dependencies on LIBMTS.dll, Ole32.dll and Shell32.dll. There is also inter-process communication necessary. If something goes wrong it can result in weird bugs and hard to reproduce crashes.
I'll keep an eye on MTS-ESP.

Thanks for the interesting video. I watched it carefully.
Technically IXA synthesis seems to be a subset of Phase Modulation (= "FM synthesis"). Back in the days Casio tried to get around the FM patents.
IXA uses deformed sawtooth(?) or 2nd harmonic sine wave as a waveform for the a carrier and a sine wave with the base frequency as a modulator.
I was able to recreate the IXA sounds with the "FM Sine 1/1" Synthesis mode. To enable it click on "None / Partial" and select FM->"FM Sine 1/1".
You'll need to experient a bit with the first partials and phases of the carrier waveform.
