Why on earth would anyone bother with that kind of loop recording? Just cut and paste your parts, or use the "loop this clip" option in conjunction with cutting and pasting!

If not... that feature will make the thing (recording several tracks, cutting into many parts, choosing the layer for each part) much more easy and much more quick....
But yes it's possible today with T1.6 but it's just very heavy.

I'm referring to the recording a song while your 'loop' loops thing. I don't see what the point of that is.
Looped audio recording, which is what I think you think I'm referring to, is my NUMBER ONE needed thing.
I suspect you think I'm talking about something about which I'm not talking, while in fact I'm talking about something different which is nearly useless.

Just to be clear:
*I* know what the audio loop recording option presented in the latest release means. And it's something I've been dying for for ages. I think it's hugely useful and alone would be worth the upgrade price. Love it, want it, need it.
Somebody else was talking about Acid something or other, and "guessed" that another poster (PLEASE don't make me track down all the quotes. Mine was referring directly to the one above it, which I thought would have been obvious!) was referring to the ability to loop a clip (ie. a drum beat) while recording in a linear way along the timeline. In other words, say the drum loop is one measure, you'd "hear" that one measure looping over and over again, but as you record, you'll be recording in a linear way ALONG the timeline, not just backtracking to the beginning of that measure over and over again.
To which I said, "Why bother? Why not just copy and paste [the drum loop], or work out your drum arrangement ahead of time." Also, I'm sure there are other VST that will allow continuous playback of a loop while you're recording anyways. I just don't see the point of that functionality.
Acid-style loop PAINTING inside the timeline? Sure, I'll take it! Acidized .wav support for instantly snapping and fitting to a tempo? Give'er here, I'll have some! Looped recording mode, as listed in the new features page? YUP!! WANT IT! But just repeating a loop over and over while I'm recording? Don't particularly need it.

Yah for that all you have to do is just select" loop this clip" however many times you want it to loop.

I actually did this with a guy who wanted to record the perfect guitar lead. Doing it manually was pretty tough. Now it'll be easy.
My question though is when you're done splicing all the takes together to create the "best" one, can you erase the rest of it and keep what you spliced in?

There is an option in the loop list to delete all unused takes.

if yr putting vox on a trak it will probley allready have a arrangment so the loop rec tool is BIG
