New management has actually brought life back to Maschine after it was sort of dormant for years. I wish they wouldn't give up on Reaktor but I would be ok if they just updated it to work with current OSes going forward. Of course, Apple makes that a PITA but that's nothing new at this point.

Btw I am not sure Maschine has been dormant for years.. It is one of the products I beta test for NI and we have almost always gotten constant updates to test.

I guess it just seemed that way to me. It felt like development was very slow and not a lot of features were being added.

There was a post a in a Reaktor Facebook group about the recent promotion of Martin O'Shead to Director of Engineering at NI who seems to be someone closely involved with earlier versions of Reaktor a few years prior. So that could be a glimmer of hope.

I buy synths because I want to design sounds from scratch, not to have an LLM twiddle knobs from my text commands

OK I know this is an Absynth thread and I'm super happy that NI came to their senses. I also realize it's more than a long shot, it's pretty much a given that Kore is not coming back.

But they really should think about it.

All of the other solutions out there do not seem capable of doing the one thing that made Kore special, patch changes of entire setups of instruments and FX while Kore was hosted in a DAW like Live, DP, Cubase, Logic etc. Even to this day Live and Bitwig have their "solutions" to this, but they're not half as elegant as Kore. Maschine, Unify, Mainstage, Cantable etc. etc. all of them fall short of what Kore could do.

Anyway, it's great that Absynth is back, I don't get the whole focus on the PLAY series of walled off essentially Kontakt instruments with a set amount of control over the samples? People must love them, but for me they're fluff. I upgraded Kontakt to 8 over getting the Komplete upgrade since Absynth won't be in it anyway, and it's almost as if NI are intentionally weaning me off Komplete at this point?

It's easy to love the plugins and hate the company. NI is the abusive parent to their products.
