I use MX all the time. I use Kontakt all the time. I bet I'll use Absynth 6 all the time.

Sorry

Haha as someone who worked there, this :ud:

If you really care about the stuff you use you like it but also want it to be better

Exactly! Because NI is like a vulnerable child who loves us implicitly. Not a profit driven company who we hope maintains some degree of it's original creative spark over easy money and disregard of quality. But on second thought, while there are some strange laws to this effect, I'm not entirely sure that a corporation really is a person, especially not one who's personality is being molded in it's formative years by love and guidance (or lack thereof) from those in a position of authority. So yeah maybe not exactly the same after all. ;)

Seriously though I will always have a soft spot for NI as they were my first plugins when I moved away from Reason 1.0 to other DAWs (Reaktor Session and Kontakt). But for the last decade it's really just been Kontakt libraries that have kept with Komplete. They were so inspirational in their early days but seem to have gotten spoiled with money and totally lost their way, made some really mad decisions for a while and I'd say neglected their true potential. Oh shit, I do sound like a disappointed parent! Well hopefully they've gotten through their aimless 20's and are settling down and getting serious again!

Yikes.

Listen up NI. I've got some problems with your product line to tell you about. Just know, this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you. </also dark>

So this has turned into one of those *weird* KVR threads now, by page 25 I see. Naturally.

Now NI, despite being ingested by some nasty PE ghouls who immediately crapped out many good product offerings, killed Absynth and let Brian C go, pooped on the forum culture by creating "up vote/down vote" garbage on a "customer support" forum as well as hiring/acquiring like 50 brand manager goons who say the most *ridiculous* things under most criticisms, and just generally making NA, maschine2/3, etc all worse, ignoring requests and bugfixes galore ----- DESPITE the last 3 years, we now have a thread that ends up sounding like a "love-in" for NI.

Now its awwwwww they are just like an abusive uncle at the holidays (who you keep tolerating, despite everything??)
NI are like a brother or sister, just going through it with us, awwwwww lets just drink some warm nog and forget <waves hands> about the last 3 years and lets not think <waves arms> about the future, nooo. Lets just live imperfectly together, along with this wealthy, investor-backed corporate brand. And a warm fireplace!

Ill check back in after release. Have any of you asked yourselves why there are SOOoooOOoooOOOooo many NDR'ed people talking about this, everywhere? New synths and new stuff gets released all the time, and sometimes there is hype that requires some NDRs for some people, but somehow the number of NDR'ed people on the NI forums (and showing up randomly in my mentions in public social media..... talking about NDRs.....) is *off the charts*.

Cant wait for the surprise. Plasmonic will have to hold me over until then.

Don't tell me it's still going to use the triple diamonds though...
All will be clear in less than a week. :)

I think people are going to love it.
I’m genuinely happy to hear your confidence and really excited to see what they’ve done! Even though it’s only just come up a few days ago and it less than a week away, I feel like I’m waiting for Alchemy or imposcar 2 to be released again.

It will be a green Christmas this year and that’s a good thing.

I agree with all that, of course, and I've been hard on them when I feel it's warranted. I also feel like they get unwarranted bashing. Massive X sounds brilliant, and in some ways it's the best software synthesizer. That didn't stop me from writing an in-depth blow-by-blow account of how bad the UI/UX is and posting it on their forum and here. I also feel like Reaktor is still amazing and Blocks is still right up there with its competitors. Kontakt is still the standard. I hate that they've let their stand alone synths languish, but I guess the daily beatings have worked. Moral has improved.

Pretty safe to say I've always had a love/hate relationship with NI. Great products, sometimes upgrades are meh, they went through period of depreciating productss, and dodgy at first versions (Absynth was a horrible CPU pig on Windows for quite a while, and Reaktor until about 4.x was buggy as hell on Mac). In the bigger picture though it's always been that the been counters at any big company make some weird choices. The actual products though, Reaktor is fantastic, Absynth is IMO the game changer with soft synths, the first one to really use the computer interface to do something different.

I still sometimes wonder WTF they're thinking though? the fact they removed track selection via the 8 buttons on the Kontrol mk3 is such an utter buzz kill on an otherwise fantastic upgrade from mk2... :dog:

They aren't "the enemy" though, they're just a company that is now owned by an investment firm, that has people who love what they do. Might be a few folks that are about that cash, but audio software seems like an odd choice if that's all you care about.

WOWZA!

Absynth was my first synth love, over 20 years back. (Yes, I'm old.) I spent countless hours honing my synthesis skills on what was, arguably, the hardest synth to program at the time. Even had some highly-rated banks in the Absynth User Library (remember when that was a thing?).

And one thing I've wanted for most of that 20 years was NEW OSCILLATORS AND FILTERS for my sweet Abby.

You hear me, NI?? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO REDEEM YOURSELVES! :hihi:
A well-behaved signature.

I "blame" it on greed and a buying public that rewards easy to use audio tools. Why else would NI run with Kontakt sample sets and let Absynth and Reaktor languish in limbo (and why else would folks like Madrona Labs get so little attention ?)

Absynth 5 came out in 2010. The PE takeover happened in 2020. Absynth 5 was killed in 2022. A bit hard to say that the PE folks "let Brian C go" when Absynth hadn't been updated in the 10 years before they took over 😂

These reactions are always so weird. It's a company, not a way of life. At this point who f**king cares what happened. Clearly someone changed their mind and v6 is coming out soon and the original developer is involved.

I hope Reaktor is next as it could use some love.

I think that's the point. Trying to figure out if this is just pandering to a disillusioned consumer base or if the changes go deeper. We'll see.

It would be hilarious though if v6 would just come with a new scalable UI and a bunch of new presets and update price 99 dollar  But seriously though. I feel a slight hope.
