So, all of this is somewhat work in progress of course, as we're testing this for the beta release.
Until a few minutes ago, the serials for upgraded Zebras were not listed in the My Licenses email. Now they are. And I'm sure that either now already or later, Zebra 2 will also be highlighted on the card.

Ah, maybe I misunderstood something. I thought the license card was stored somewhere publicly visible in a Windows directory. So, if I put it in my TrueCrypt container after installation and registration, that would be okay?whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 10:23 amWhy do you think you need to keep the PNG file on your computer after youve used it?ThomasLehmann wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 6:46 pm The license card idea isn't bad in principle, but now I have a PNG file somewhere on my computer with my full, visible name and email address ? Is the PNG file at least encrypted on the computer ?

It is stored in %AppData%\u-he which by default is hidden and "roaming". I'm no Win user, this is what my dev tells me. He also says this directory could be encrypted by the user.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

One of the points of the system is that the card stays as it is, and can be retrieved by the plug-in or the user.
The reason is very simple:
The old serials were tied to the user name, but the accounts are naturally tied to their email address. Many people simply forget which email address their account is tied to. In the past few years, we had roughly 2000 support incidences where users did not know the email address of their original purchase. By writing the email address on the License Card we hope to reduce this greatly.
So again, if displaying a user name and email address is a concern, just use a pseudonym and an alternative email address. I'm sure those are easy to obtain. But make sure the alternative email address stays in your possession as this is how you identify yourself to our support team.

I always liked the plougue license cards, so this is great!
I’ll try it out later with Zebralette.

Okay, I understand. I've had the same problem with the email address in the past, as I use a different one for PayPal than the one I used to register with uhe. I use different email addresses for different shops and payment providers. With my last order, plugins were automatically linked to the PayPal email address instead of the one I originally registered with.Urs wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 3:26 pm One of the points of the system is that the card stays as it is, and can be retrieved by the plug-in or the user.

It would be enough for me if my full, real name wasn't on the license card. Just the email address with some pseudonym wouldn't bother me. But right now, all my uhe plugins are registered with my real name.

I'm a bit confused. The old serials are plain text files that can be opened in any text program and show the user name and email address. Opening any of our plug-ins shows the user name next to "registered to". If this never was a problem, how is it suddenly a problem when it is a graphics file that only you have access to while logged into your computer?ThomasLehmann wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:18 pm It would be enough for me if my full, real name wasn't on the license card.
Maybe I don't understand the significance here. On my computer I have gazillions of files that contain my name and email address, from contracts to papers I wrote, over images to emails. I wonder how adding a single more file becomes a problem.
This is a serious question. If there is a common need for a different way to handle this, we sure can do something about it, like, offer an option to scramble the files. But we won't do that unless there is a very compelling reason.

Maybe I'm just being a bit oversensitive and worrying too much about it. But I always try to leave behind or store as little of my complete data as possible. I've encrypted important files on my computer in a TrueCrypt container, including the registration data for the uhe plugins. So, if it doesn't bother anyone else, it's probably just my being overly cautious.

Well, I requested my license cards and sadly nothing came.
This is what I suspect. I bought Zebra 2 a long time ago under an email I no longer have access to. Now I thought I re-registered everything under my new email, swagen2167@aol.com but I may be mistaken. Urs is there any way you can check this? I did buy Dark Zebra so I know I am entitled to the Zebra 3 free upgrade but without a new license, I don't now what happens.
