Congrats on the release! Been waiting this moment for years. I plan to make some sound libraries very soon, specially for MPE devices…. do you have an estimation on when MPE will be implemented ?

This is incredible news! I do have a quick question about Zebra 2 Legacy and the upgrade. I have only ever used zebralette and only own a Diva license from U-He. If I bought Zebra 2 Legacy today what would the upgrade path be to Zebra 3? From the wording is seems like it would be free? But Zebra 2 Legacy is only $99 so I must be missing something. Either way I will be buying it I just want to make sure I do it smart, haha. Thanks again U-He, yall are the BEST!

There's no upgrade path from Zebra Legacy. Only for original Z2 users ($30 upgrade) or Z2 + Dark Zebra (free). If you only want Z3 then get that directly.

BTW $ is euro, I don't know where the euro sign is on my kb.

Only if it woudn't crackle on high CPU usage that is so sad... will consider that as bug and report that tomorrow please dev team do something about that , I had same issues with zebrallete 3 , but if I remember correctly I had no issues whatsoever when I was using Zebra 2.

Congrats on the public beta release, really excited to finally try Zebra 3!

I have a few quick questions:

Does Zebra 3 support MIDI output? Specifically, can we record / drag-out sequences, arps, or other generated patterns directly into the DAW?

It does not have a sequencer or arpeggiator yet, so no concept of MIDI sequences. Would love to chat about that when we work on 3.1 or 3.2, maybe next year.

Since the interface is built with SVG graphics, is there a technical reason why we can’t freely resize the window by dragging the bottom-right corner, instead of choosing from fixed size presets?

The reason is trivial: We could do it, but we haven't done it yet. We might revisit this once we work on hardware acceleration on Windows.

Are there any randomization tools available to quickly generate variations of sounds, with the option to lock individual parameters to avoid being changed, and/or any other kind of smart randomization features? Something like Absynths sound mutation maybe.

No randomisers. With gain staging and everything available in Z3 you could end up blasting speakers or ears. Maybe AI will do the trick one day, but we're currently not particularly optimistic.

For now we like to think of Zebra 3 as being made for humans, and conscience design.

I am curious about what did you read to give you the impression that it would be free for you if you buy Zebra Legend today?..
I think this is the part that applies to you..
During the beta phase, everyone else can purchase a Zebra 3 license at the introductory price of 179,-€ here (note, this is 70€ off from 249€, so this is better than anything we'd be able to offer owners of Zebra Legacy):

My understanding is the only people who get it free are those who had bought Zebra 2 and Dark Zebra aka Zebra HZ, when they existed as separate items, that is BEFORE Zebra Legend was created.

for those who bought Zebra 2 but didn't buy Zebra HZ, they pay 30 Euros.

Everyone else (that is those who don't own any Zebra or those who bought Zebra Legend when it was 99 Euros) you pay 179 Euros for Zebra 3... that is my understanding..
(they did say a long time ago, even before Zebra Legend was released) that there wouldn't be a discount for those who only bought Zebra Legend (though there is now a 70 Euros de facto discount)

Is there a discussion thread about the features and using it, or should we simply write here?

This is a whole world to explore, and might be enough featureset for the next decade...
Yet I am missing some "bread'n'butter" features, maybe I simply don't understand how to set these up:

1. Curves in ENVs. Are we supposed to use MSEGs then? If so, I would prefer 6 MSEG slots then...

2. Unison spread curve (log<->exp) for pitch and stereo position

3. Four mono outputs instead only 2. That would make mixing a lot more easy, esp. when using onboard fx.

In general, we can start here, but we'll probably start a few new threads tomorrow for bug reports and feature discussion.

1) We are thinking of bringing back the Vari-Slope mode for envelopes. No ETA yet. There are however ways built-in to change the slope, such as modulating Stretch by the Env itself, or using Feedback.

2) Frequently requested, will probably happen, but maybe in 3.1 or later.

So, the official upgrade path is from "Zebra 2 before it became Zebra Legacy". As you correctly assume, it would be odd to get a 30€ upgrade to a 249€ product from a 99€ investment.

The current discount is 70€, so that is more than anything we'd offer owners of the 99€ Zebra Legacy. Once that discount is over (e.g. upon release) we might offer owners of Zebra Legacy a coupon code, but it won't be nearly as much a the 70€ we currently have.

We might also offer bundle prices, not sure.

Secondly, they probably mean "can we have more plugin outputs, so you can output an FX or a sub osc or something separately from the main sound."

Interesting. I wasn’t aware Absynth users and anyone using similarly featured synths fell outside the ‘human’ category.
