Hi. Not always but often from our experience this is often due to periodically running registry/plist cleaning tools that confuse our registry keys (pointing to licenses) for junk. Nothing related to pngs per se.enCiphered wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 9:36 am I also own one of Plogue’s plugins and while I do like the general idea of license cards, I’ve always had one recurring issue with it: every now and then when I open the plugin, it asks for the license again. So I end up re-activating it repeatedly, which gets annoying pretty fast.
But u-he usually get these things right, so I’m pretty confident their implementation will avoid the kind of activation loop I’ve been dealing with on the Plogue side.

I saw this brought up but I didn't see an answer. If we own Z2 and HZ, should they be greyed out because Z3 covers them? I'd say to avoid confusion just keep them highlighted as active so you don't have people asking. lol. Mine has them greyed out.

We are still in the early stages with license card support.
That's why not all products might currently appear on the license card.
Right now, the card will only unlock Zebra 3 anyway.
So don't worry if a product isn't listed on the card yet.
We are working on it.

Zebra 2 will come back on the card then... little confusion on our side as how to handle upgraded products.

Not sure if I'm the only one, I must admit I didn't read the whole thread, but I don't really like the new image based activation card. I'm using a text based password manager where I also store my licenses, and I now would have to work around storing an image file. Not impossible, just very inconvenient.
I also do not see the benefit of an image over, for example, a license file, which could then simply be stored as text.
Maybe you guys try to fight piracy by preventing licenses to be uploaded as text and make it more tamper proof? Not sure if image metadata would cut it though.
I've also picked up something about an "Update Manager" or "Install Manager", and I wouldn't like this either (sorry, I may be the weirdo here), at least not if there would be no standalone installation option anymore.
For some of my hosts I provision music software with Ansible, which just takes the tar.gz and does the installation process from there. That way of provisioning software would be much more complicated, if not impossible, if a Manager would be the only way to install plugins.

I did reread it, and maybe I am misunderstanding this, which is entirely possible, but if I want to store my licenses somewhere safe wouldn't I need to store them as images now once the cards are rolled out instead of just plain text?

Yes, and most password managers do that. Not all though, e.g. Bitwarden requires a payed plan. That's not a big deal though. You can always get your License Card from us as well, we won't run out of business in a hurry.vitaminx wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 4:43 pmI did reread it, and maybe I am misunderstanding this, which is entirely possible, but if I want to store my licenses somewhere safe wouldn't I need to store them as images now once the cards are rolled out instead of just plain text?
Anyhow, I'm just not following how you get to the idea that we switch to a License Center and such. That's not what we said.

Hmm, yes, as I said, not a super big deal as you could just base64 encode the image and store it as text, just somewhat more inconvenient. I do understand though that I'm possibly just representing a 0.0001% of your users using a text only password manager, in my case the Unix Password Manager https://www.passwordstore.org/.Urs wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 5:22 pm Yes, and most password managers do that. So the image files serve an actual purpose for us, and in turn for many customers. You won't believe how many people forget which email address, user name or even which licenses they have on file with us. My team deals with this on a daily basis. We have high hopes that utilising a visual medium that makes these basic parts of the license clear, is going to mitigate a lot of stress that a surprising number of people have.vitaminx wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 7:29 pmHmm, yes, as I said, not a super big deal as you could just base64 encode the image and store it as text, just somewhat more inconvenient. If everyone else is happy with images then that's good. Just wanted to raise this anyhow, for whatever its worth
It really isn't just a gimmick.
Ok, I see. This isn't much directly related to License Cards though.I was referring to this viewtopic.php?p=9164473#p9164473 comment and the one after (your reply), which talk about ideas for an Install or Update Manager, if I understand it right.Urs wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 5:22 pm Anyhow, I'm just not following how you get to the idea that we switch to a License Center and such. So the idea is that, with License Cards, any of our plug-ins can know what people have installed from us, and then any of our plug-ins can check for updates for all installed products online. So one does not have to go through each. And maybe it can initiate downloads for the latest installers and maybe launch a process that installs them all in one go - so one doesn't have to do it all manually.
But this is just an idea, nothing we've planned for the immediate future, and certainly nothing that changes how people can just download installers and put them on whatever medium to install them offline.
