Hi, I Purchased Waveform Pro 13.5.19 and also paid for the Collective 2 update.
The laptop I'm using is: Lenovo Thinkpad Intel® Core™ i5-4300M CPU @ 2.60GHz × 4 , 8 Gig ram, 500 Gig SSD, running Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS 64 bit.
This is more just for tinkering, I don't need to run a ton of tracks or anything mainly just testing Linux and Waveform.
I first originally had Linux Mint Xfce 22.2 Zara on this laptop, installed Waveform, it all ran decent, some of the waveform Vsts crash if you use the vst3 version (collective, Biotek2, Subtractive) Using the regular Vst version seems to be ok, Subtractive crashes on opening no matter what version of vst (I have never been able to get Subtractive to open on Linux)
So I figured I would try a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS 64 bit since this is what is recommend on the waveform website for system requirements hoping it would be a little more stable. So installed everything fresh, no problems, installed waveform seems to work okay (although some of the included demo templates seem to be a little higher on the cpu meter than Linux mint Xfce?
So I start installing vsts, Collective 2 first, reboot and start waveform, it scans the Collective 2 vst then gives this error: Scan complete - The following files appear to be plugin files, but failed to load correctly collective.so, tried everything and still it will not pass the scan.
So tried other waveform vsts (BioTek2, collective) and get the same error scanning the vsts:
Scan complete - The following files appear to be plugin files, but failed to load correctly collective.so, BioTek2.so
Even if i go into scan vsts from settings in waveform same error message.
So none of the waveform vsts that I installed pass the scan.
The vsts work on Linux Mint, so maybe a dependency not installed in ubuntu?
I was just hoping i could get this running on Ubuntu 24.04 to see if its more stable than Linux Mint since this is the recommend Linux OS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

This appears to be outdated information. I suspect that they didn't update this detail on their web page as they should.ThomasCa wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 7:06 pm Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS 64 bit since this is what is recommend on the waveform website
Better try with Ubuntu Studio 25.10 !
That is my best Waveform experience on Linux.
I am myself running my daily workhorse system with Debian 13 (KDE, Wayland) to get all my important jobs done. But before contacting the Tracktion support I am always cross checking with Ubuntu Studio... and most of the issues which I suffer on Debian do not appear on Ubuntu Studio.
I mentioned it elsewhere: even when having used an Ubuntu version providing the nominal same kernel and library versions as I have had them in use in Debian, Debian is unforgiving and seems to block certain calls, while Ubuntu is more generous and let them be processed. After a lot of tests and debugging attempts I concluded (but could never proof) that Ubuntu compiles the binaries with some different compiler flags in use, and this might make the difference for some apps.

Try it with Ubuntu Studio 24.04.3 and install the restricted extras to install some TTF fonts needed for Collective and BioTek2.ThomasCa wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 7:06 pm Hi, I Purchased Waveform Pro 13.5.19 and also paid for the Collective 2 update.

To install the restricted extras, open Terminal and type sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras press enter and your password, accept the EULA license for Microsoft TTF fonts, then you going to see Collective and BioTek2 running well.

Thanks guys for the replies,
So after I posted, I played around it more and the support bot on the tracktion website actually recommend some things that led me to a site that i tried a few commands and something in there worked, not sure what exactly, the vsts passed scan and worked ( the vst3s still crashed often, but regular vst were fine) This was on Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS 64 bit that i originally installed.
Talby you were correct in recommending Ubuntu 25.10 After I installed that everything worked with out tweaking anything it just worked, so something must not be up to date on 24.04 like you were saying (which is what the tracktion waveform website recommends) They should probably update that.
Thanks for the recommendations cupcakemusic appreciate it, I did everything you recommend already right after i installed Ubuntu, but is was 20.04.6.
I'm sure the recommendation from both of you to install ubuntu studio would have done the trick, I just didn't want all the extra stuff that studio installs as the ssd isn't very big.
Thanks guys.
