Hello!I, like at least one other person, have been experiencing issues loading Ardour projects where TX16Wx was used. (-See this Ardour forum post: https://discourse.ardour.org/t/why-wont ... d/112620/2 (https://discourse.ardour.org/t/why-wont-tx16wx-plugin-load/112620/2))
I'm currently running macOS Mojave (10.14.6) on a 2013 Mac Pro (32GB ram, 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5), and have been using the AU version of the plugin (-the only one that shows-up in Ardour, actually).
Thus far, I've only been using TX16Wx in a very 'simple'/limited way: I map .wav files (vocal tracks) to keys, and then save a preset of the mapping (e.g. "Vocal Group 1 (TX16Wx Preset 1).txprog") to be used later (across different MIDI tracks, or in other projects, etc.). -Nothing else. -No effects or additional processing.
This morning, upon trying to open one of my projects with about 2-3 uses of TX16Wx, Ardour would fail and crash again and again (-never actually opening), each time generating a report (by Apple), which I will paste in a comment below.
Now, I know a lot of people hate AI-use (-and sorry if I'm violating some forum policy regarding it), but I did in fact ask ChatGPT to take a look at some of one of those reports, and it responded with (-which of course may or may not be BS):
What’s happening (in plain English)
• Ardour is loading your session.
• It reaches a MIDI track with an AU plugin.
• Ardour calls AUPlugin::init()
• macOS AudioUnit system starts creating the plugin instance
• TX16Wx crashes inside CoreFoundation (CFStringGetLength)
• This causes a NULL pointer dereference (EXC_BAD_ACCESS at 0x0)
That usually means:
• Corrupt plugin state in the session
• An incompatible TX16Wx build for macOS 10.14
• Or a bad preset / missing sample path referenced by the session
Overall, TX16Wx is a FANTASTIC tool!
Which is what makes this issue/bug (-whether it's TX16Wx's or Ardour's fault, or both) so annoying...
Anyway, hopefully this issue can somehow be resolved.
Thanks for your time!
~Cheers,
-J
