Zebralette has two layouts (a bright and dark variation). Is a bright layout coming to Z3 later also?

But lets say you're in an unfamiliar patch, do I have to randomly right click a bunch of knobs to find one that has that?
That is the point in the video (almost literally).

Every knob that has any modulation, selected or not, has a hint. In this case, I just used a fainter coloured dot. But we might end up using something else, a circle, a smaller dot, an outline, a period... dunno. Just like Serum still has its greyed out mini-knob in the top left corner of each knob that has a modulation.

So I went through a couple of complex patches and found that it's pretty helpful.

We'll see...

Our UI designer says yes.

Ahhh, I see. I missed the fainted dot, that's why it was confusing to me.

So, I totally understand the wish to have that. I see this as a great option to clear the head for very straight forward modulation.

So from the source side, I think that the ModMatrix tab and the extra Matrix racks in the MSEGs and Mappers are already providing this functionality. Not perfect yet, but they do. MSEGs and Mappers even contain slots for when they are targets themselves. The system can and will be improved by allowing more options to focus and by improving readability. I can think of various ways to quickly show everything an LFO does, e.g. by right-clicking the Logo and "show in Matrix" or something. It looks different, and maybe it takes some time to get used to.

But then, on the target side, I am pretty sceptical in respect of Zebra. The real fun starts when modulators work on each other or through another. But indirect modulations can't be represented properly in spreadsheets small or big. With such a concept you'd have to flip between spreadsheets. Modulations across modules are quite accessible in Zebra though, just by using the main UI. That is exactly the kind of context that its UI makes accessible, but one needs to get their mind involved.

So for now let us focus on the thing I've videoed, and some more enhancements we've already done, such as showing the mod depth in the menu. Then let's revisit the topic after everyone had opportunity to use it.
Yeah, this makes sense - and I think your video mockup is definitely a step in the right direction. It's useful feedback but not overdone.

Okay so this fixed half of the problem, actually really nice. The other half though, is I can't tell if a modulator is being used for something or not. Ofc with Envs, LFOs, MSEG, etc... those will just show up on the right side if they are modulating something, then you can click on the pip to show all the modulation rings.

The problem is that if you have a lot of those activated, now you have to scroll down to see which is quite annoying. On top of that, Ctrl, Alt, Rnd, Noise (all left ones) don't have any type of indicators.

I know you can click on a modulator like Rnd at the bottom tab then it will glow up green to show all the rings, how about you guys change it to if a modulator is being used, that modulator icon would just constantly be green? You would also need to add another color to indicate which modulator is the currently focused.

So when I'm in a random patch it will be like "okay, Gate, Alt and Pitch 3 are green, let's click on them to see what's happening".

One thing after the other.

I'm sure it'll be easy to grey out unused modulators, and even grey out the tab headings of unused Oscs, MSEGs and Mappers.

So a right click on a Modulation Assigner currently only has "Remove Modulation:" and then a list of targets. I can think of a whole lot of things to show here, e.g. straight out a list of targets that could then be highlighted or made visible. Also a hint of targets that are unused, and an option to remove all or any unused targets.

My suggestions regarding zebra 3 improvements
1. please scale back the max values of the rez knob/because currently it can blow up users speakers/ears
2.Please add the ability to add the osc as a Source to modulate everything(modern cpus are powerful enough)
3.Please add the tabs system for macros in performance tab similar to vps avenger 2
4.Please make oscs, msegs and mappers tabs dynamic, meaning tab appears only when it's needed/used, not on the grid but on the button ui section + duble click to rename each tab
5.Arp/seq would be great to have with modern features ,inspired by vps avenger 2 plus midi import end export ,and modernized piano roll view and ratcheting
6. consider adding preset playback before loading

Why there is nothing happens when I select mod source for pitch, for example, in the PitchMod Src menu under the Tune knob? I thought that modulator will cause effect immediately — but I still need to connect modulator with the Tune knob by dragging Trigger Mode form the modulator.

Post

By default all Pitch sources do the same. Once you go to the Pitches Tab you can make them do different things.

Thanks for the explanation  Also! I solved the issue with license card with your guide

Is there currently a way to change the modulation offset for a knob so that it can go above AND below the base position? Bipolar modulation? I've found this especially useful with LFO modulation.

Yes...?

Can you be more specific, like give an example of what you want to achieve?
