i would like to have 4 (or more) samples mapped to one key and every time i press that key, i want them to play back 1 at a time in a random order. i was able to get them to play back in a sequence via the group key switcher and the matrix, but i would like to make them trigger randomly.

it seems like the matrix would be easier for what im trying to do. i tried "random" for the matrix source, but it plays one side more than the rest. it seems to go along with whatever the modulation curve is set to; linear plays 1 side the most, inverse plays the opposite side the most. i have lined them up only on 1 axis.

You can use random as trigger source for group switching, just set the "random lo/hi" values to desired range in the 0-1 interval (i.e. for four layers, layer 1: 0 - 0.25, layer 2: 0.25 - 0.50, etc).

And yes, for the matrix, you can further distribute the random value using the modulation curve. As for some values getting hit (subjectively) more often than others; Well, psuedo-random is indeed psuedo. In the end, the distribution should be fairly gaussian, though to be fair, TX uses a noise function here, not a normal-distributed random, so it is not really guaranteed to distribute fully equal... (which btw true random does neither)

That being said, I noticed there is a bug in the random-as-modulation curve mapping (wrong range), so there will indeed be an extra skew. Will fix in next drop. Can also look at maybe improving the "feel" of the random gen.

Thank you for the fast reply! i just put 8 samples on group switching with intervals of .125 and it worked as it should. i wouldn't have figured this out on my own. looking forward to learning and mastering this excellent software.
