Hope we can look forwards to an Arovane sound bank for Zebra 3 in the nearish futureArovane wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 5:03 pm Hi all
at first what a great update is Zebra3 !!!![]()
Thank you U-He/Crew/Urs....
I was drifting throw the 300 Presets which comes with it. nice
I´m on Bitwig / WiN
My question is :
I want to modulate the MW (Modwheel) Slider with one of the many Bitwig modulators or with an LFO or Random etc. from Zebra3....
I want to modulate the 4 Knobs an the right side of the Perform-Page Crtl-A, B, C, D
also with on of the many Bitwig modulators or with an LFO or Random etc. from Zebra3....
I mean this MW (Modwheel) Slider and these 4 Knobs Crtl-A to D are predestined to modulate it
for changing the sound nice and quickly...
Or have i overseen something ?![]()
Thank you in advance and nice christmas holidays

They are basically MIDI Control Changes, like the ModWheel and similar to Pitchbend. You can assign any MIDI CC to them in the preference section.Arovane wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 6:49 pm Ok that works great. Thank you PieBerger
But what about the Crtl A to D Knobs ?
How can i modulate these Knobs within Zebra3 or Bitwig ?
The knobs are there to make those accessible from the UI. We are also trying to figure out if and how to make them available for automation.
In short, we have the goal to fuse Macros, MIDI Controllers and Expressions into the same thing, as they are often assigned to the same targets, and basically just represent different workflows (e.g. MIDI based vs. Mouse based). This should make sound design easier, and it should also make sound design options more inclusive across different setups.

Might be worth considering differences in shape rather than differences in color. The human visual cortex works in such a way that shapes are distinguished faster than colors, and shape information is substantially better integrated into hand and eye motion (possibly because of how our color vision breaks down in low light conditions, never mind the prevalence of congenital color blindness).atmelcool wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 1:41 pm I have poor eyesight, but I don't like when the Zebra strip takes up too much screen space, so I use 80% zoom. Today, I realized that all the modules are grouped but have the same green color. If, for example, the OSCs were one color, the FMOs another, and so on, I wouldn't have to peer closely and would just pick them intuitively faster. Everything works and is well-organized, but if you suddenly think you can color them, that would be even cooler! Or you can make the icons themselves a little larger, there's plenty of space there. Thank you.
Obviously, designing and implementing unique shapes for each module type would be an entire nightmare, even if all they do is take bites out of different corners of the lozenges. But, hey, we're all asking for ponies.
I hate signatures too.

False, they are processed together.Super Piano Hater 64 wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:04 pm The human visual cortex works in such a way that shapes are distinguished faster than colors
But even if they weren't, the differences are negligible considering the speed of our brains.

They follow different pathways through neural structures inside the brain. The differences seem negligible to your conscious experience of vision (until you perform experiments that reveal the details) but are critically important for UI design. A certain popular computer company used to have strict rules about this back when people with an eye for design were in charge. They wrote volumes on the subject.Rivanni wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 9:01 pmFalse, they are processed together.Super Piano Hater 64 wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:04 pm The human visual cortex works in such a way that shapes are distinguished faster than colors

You will find the CC numbers for Ctrl-A, B, C and D in the T-tab behind the cogwheel on the Zebra 3 UI.PieBerger wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 5:18 pmPut a MIDI CC device before Zebra3 set the knobs to the default numbers eg 1 for MW. Then you can use BW modulators to animate the knobs.Arovane wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 5:03 pm Hi all

For anyone who already downloaded the collection of Z3 beta generator/modulator/effect (i.e., "module") presets I posted a few days ago: an updated version (1.1.0) with 358 presets is now up at viewtopic.php?p=9173628#p9173628.
If you're using the 1.0 collection, upgrading to 1.1.0 is highly recommended: it now covers all 26 preset-capable Z3 modules, but more importantly: it fixes several potentially-confusing presets with default settings which made them silent or inert until adjusted (in their original patches they'd been matrix-modulated, but module presets only save direct modulations). Those are fixed, along with other improvements (covered in detail over at the project's new Changelog!)
FYI: Some module preset files had to be renamed, so if you're upgrading from the earlier collection (1.0.0), just remove all subdirectories under Zebra3.data/Modules/ and replace them with the contents of the new zip.
Enjoy!

Thanks but that would delete the few presets that do ship with Z3 alreadyp5c wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 11:17 pm

Nope! The 3.0.0 beta only shipped with two module presets (both Oscillators), and they're included in the zip.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 11:19 pm Thanks but that would delete the few presets that do ship with Z3 already

I have been working with Zebra 3 for a few days. It is fantastic. Thanks for the new modules, mixers, filters, reverbs and 8-tap. Oh, and the EQ resonator combos are also great. I am glad plans for a Step Sequencer are on the horizon. I see that quite a bit of deduping has happened. Modules like SB have been folded into RM, Shaper is now inside Folder and Dist. Sync is now an OSC FX. And, no more XMF. However, this has reduced the total number of available modules for these categories as opposed to Zebra HZ. Yes, there are 2 new EQs but no more Diva filters. Is it possible to increase their count? I see the empty slots in the picker panel and hope this is what you have planned anyways..
Some rough suggestions.. OSC FX Global FX Picker. The system menu is now too tall. Isn't it better to use the same pattern as the Main Grid? We can also increase the number of modules available. We can always work within limitations but Zebra is such as deep synth, sometimes you run out of certain modules pretty quickly..
Thank you.
