Is this mostly for creative effect or can it be suitable for alligning vocals and guitars too?

MuLab's time stretching is best for percussive audio. It's a bit less ideal for full range audio (like complete audio track). I'd expect it to work well on voices. On guitars i'd expect it will depend on what kind of guitar audio, best to try it out yourself and judge yourself.
