Jexus has one or two (thousand) free presets including for the JP-8000 and JP-8080.

Are there instructions anywhere on how to set this up if you own the hardware? I have an 8080 but don't know if that's useable or what I need to do.
I checked in the emulator download, on the JE8086 page, in their FAQs, etc. and all I could find was like one vague sentence on which folder to put the rom into.

Anyone have the preset Chariots? It keeps playing and can only be stopped by changing to another preset or all midi notes off. Also why do I have PERFORM *P* 11 on the green screen all the time and single presets (non-performance) only show up on the panel select little screen to the left of the green screen?

You need to understand how the original works in regard to Performances, Patches, incoming MIDI channels, and how the ARP works over split mode.soundman007 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:57 am Anyone have the preset Chariots? The JP-8000 is always in Performance mode. Again, it helps to read the manual and understand how the hardware works - it's not necessarily entirely intuitive at first glance until you understand how it works - if you're forgotten how your hardware unit works - the emulation is exactly the same.soundman007 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:57 amAlso why do I have PERFORM *P* 11 on the green screen all the time and single presets (non-performance) only show up on the panel select little screen to the left of the green screen?

Look for the HOLD-button in the ARP-section and deactivate that.soundman007 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:57 am Anyone have the preset Chariots? It keeps playing and can only be stopped by changing to another preset or all midi notes off.

The ROMs (.mid files) go to the application folder "roms".concealed identity wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 6:50 am I checked in the emulator download, on the JE8086 page, in their FAQs, etc. and all I could find was like one vague sentence on which folder to put the rom into.

Thanks, I wasn't sure what format the file would be in. What I'm not clear on is if I can use the ROM from my 8080, how I can even get it onto my PC, etc. Even Roland removed the only firmware update for 8080 from their site many years ago- I think I still have it somewhere, so maybe I'll just try it next time I'm on my computer.Chris-S wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:48 pmThe ROMs (.mid files) go to the application folder "roms".concealed identity wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 6:50 am I checked in the emulator download, on the JE8086 page, in their FAQs, etc. and all I could find was like one vague sentence on which folder to put the rom into.

Thanks for the helpful replies! I looked at the old manual and that helps a bit although things are quite different.

No point in trying at the moment, the 8080 is not currently supported, only the JP-8000 works right now. The emulator will support the 8080 in due course, but doesn't right now.concealed identity wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 3:03 pm What I'm not clear on is if I can use the ROM from my 8080, how I can even get it onto my PC, etc. Even Roland removed the only firmware update for 8080 from their site many years ago- I think I still have it somewhere, so maybe I'll just try it next time I'm on my computer.

The pitch env is always applied to both OSCs?
EDIT: Osc Common LFO1&Env Dest can be set to OSC1+OSC2 / OSC2 / X-mod.

Baby steps I suppose, but the JP-8080's noise waveform on OSC2 is the one thing I wish it had right now. Comes in handy while in patch mode to support/enhance the supersaw waveform on OSC1. Don't care much about the 8080's distortion effect or the vocoder functionality.
Still, the most authentic JP-80x0 emulation (obviously). Can't argue with that...
