When exporting the composition as an audio file or exporting tracks as audio files, does Mulab protect against cpu overloads? I believe this usually happens in other DAWs by slowing down the rendering process to prevent this.

There cannot be cpu overloads during exporting audio.
If, for whatever reason, rendering an audio block takes more time than the length of that audio block (which is the definition of an overload) then the export process will simply take more time but that audio block will still be integrally rendered.
