I agree about the Kilohearts filters- imo they are the weakest part of their effects bundle and Phase Plant. The exception is the nonlinear filter, which they added later after a lot of feedback regarding the filters being underwhelming. ...
Idk... I think most people just don´t get what powerful system they have created with their plugins, Snap Heap and Multipass...
I.e. you can build any imaginable filter curve in Slice EQ and modulate the "Offset" ... pair it with their great distortions/dynamics and other modulated filters, build multiband versions of them, use them in Phase Plant polyphonically...

Not everybodie´s cup of tea for sure... but nothing to blame kiloHearts for...

Dash Glitch did a video on this topic already 6 years ago... starts a bit boring but getting better...!

.
And this was back in the days...
Meanwhile with the newer filter options like steeper slopes on the normal filters and especially the filter table the kilohearts system is probably the most powerful filter plugin out there apart from using pure modular stuff.

Again... imho kiloHearts have done everything right and aren´t responsible for limited imagination of some people... :tu:

Hi OP, I know you started this thread to ask for recommendations for a filter other than Kilohearts, may I recommend you get Kilohearts and an imagination?

Sorry that you feel p*ssed off... but it is what it is... :D

In a shocking development, the guy who says other people need more imagination also somehow has the most boring responses imaginable

Imagination is running your software synths through some pedals, outboard or even modular stuff. :?
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

:hihi:

Owning Snap Heap, MXXX and/or The Grid sometimes invites an obligation to rebuild everything interesting yourself, but most of the time I just want to get back to work. Those custom modular devices definitely have their place and are (very) well-used and well-loved, but best emulating classic filter behavior takes time, and probably C++ instead of snapins.

Filterverse: This is begging to be polyphonic, imo. When are they releasing the full synth? There are cool comb/flanger-y things in here I haven't heard anywhere else, and the routing adds even more interest. The demo could win me over at some point. Weird UX IMO though.

Shade: okay, this thing is stupidly fun. Thanks for the tip on getting the demo. It only took a few minutes before I'd bounced some stuff out of Rolling Sampler, so it looks like I'm not making it out of here unscathed.

That I wasn't already using Zebrify for this doesn't flatter me, but the XMFs are doing the characterful thing I wanted. I'll periodically audition the non-expiring demos for the other good recommendations and stick with Zebrify and Snap Heap for awhile. Thanks (to @Fannon as well).

I agree, the new filter modules are very cool. If only I could run Bitwig inside of Reaper, I would be in it more often.
