Thanks! That would be very helpful!Urs wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 2:21 pm We have whole API for this, but it lived on the Uhbik branch of things. We only recently merged it back into Zebra, as we wanted top release the beta first. So yeah, ms readouts may be possible...

i'm looking forward to Howard's first (and second …) full patch collection for Z3!
HS patches are always something special, and with a grain of humour as an extra pinch of spice.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

does that mean the readout for the phase offset will be updated also? as of right now even if i assign one of the Ctrl knobs to phase offset (which i find it's a total waste of 1 of the ctrl knobs, why won't you put a dedicated phase knob?)don't get any readout for the phase position when changing the knob, please explain if I'm doing anything wrong here and there is another way to achieve phase readoutUrs wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 2:21 pm We have whole API for this, but it lived on the Uhbik branch of things. The Exciter doesn't have a "pitch (frequency)" as such (plus I don't know what you mean by "height of the pulse"), but you can modulate Stiffness i.e. the tone with e.g. KEY. Is that what you wanted?atmelcool wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 2:40 pmNo, that's not what I meant. I meant changing the pitch (frequency) of the sound itself.Beachboy wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 5:14 pmI hope that I did not misunderstand you but you can drag they "Key" function onto the "Numbers" from the exciter so you have keyfollow on the numbers of impulses.atmelcool wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 4:08 pm Hello Urs, this may seem strange, but I felt there was a lack of ability to bind the exciter pulse to the keys, so that the height of the pulse would change along with the keys. How do you look at this?
Look at this patch and imagine if there was such an opportunity, what would it sound like?

I can't promise its own knob just yet, but instead of CTRL A..D there'll be a "Constant" value.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:32 pmdoes that mean the readout for the phase offset will be updated also?
You an also use a ModMath in its default state ("Sum") with "X" turned fully up. Or Alternate with a "Full Wave +" rectifier, or Gate with Gate as Sample & Hold source... lots of ways to create a static 100% modulation value already, but yeah, Constant is missing yet.

You don't need to waste a Ctrl for phase offset. You can hack a 'Constant' mod source by using Alternate with full wave rectification.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:32 pmdoes that mean the readout for the phase offset will be updated also? as of right now even if i assign one of the Ctrl knobs to phase offset (which i find it's a total waste of 1 of the ctrl knobs, why won't you put a dedicated phase knob?)don't get any readout for the phase position when changing the knob, please explain if I'm doing anything wrong here and there is another way to achieve phase readoutUrs wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 2:21 pm We have whole API for this, but it lived on the Uhbik branch of things. i understood the first example but not the other 2 ("Alternate with a "Full Wave +" rectifier, or Gate with Gate as Sample & Hold source. )Urs wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:59 pmI can't promise its own knob just yet, but instead of CTRL A..D there'll be a "Constant" value.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:32 pmdoes that mean the readout for the phase offset will be updated also?

Nevertheless, thank you for some clarification about this. I hope this "Constant" value feature will come soon as phase adjustment is something I use a lot.

Matrix assignments have modifiers you can set; the little icons along the bottom i.e. remap, full/partial rectification or unipolarisation, quantisation, sample and hold and slew.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 4:34 pmi understood the first example but not the other 2 ("Alternate with a "Full Wave +" rectifier, or Gate with Gate as Sample & Hold source. )Urs wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:59 pmI can't promise its own knob just yet, but instead of CTRL A..D there'll be a "Constant" value.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:32 pmdoes that mean the readout for the phase offset will be updated also?

Alternate will flip flop between a positive and negative value set by the knob for every note on, but if it's Full Wave+ rectified it will output positive values only and making it a constant offset therefore.
SH will sample the mod source and hold it until the next sample. If the hold is Gate the mod source will be sampled on every note on and Gate outputs a value for as long as a note is held i.e. you have a constant value sampled and held per note.

the gate with gate as s&h doesn't seem to do anything , i'm sure i probably miss something herePieBerger wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 6:12 pmMatrix assignments have modifiers you can set; the little icons along the bottom i.e. remap, full/partial rectification or unipolarisation, quantisation, sample and hold and slew.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 4:34 pmi understood the first example but not the other 2 ("Alternate with a "Full Wave +" rectifier, or Gate with Gate as Sample & Hold source. )Urs wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:59 pmI can't promise its own knob just yet, but instead of CTRL A..D there'll be a "Constant" value.jaw jaw wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 3:32 pmdoes that mean the readout for the phase offset will be updated also?
