W.A. makes good plugins for the price imo. Splitter and Deres see some regular use for me, Dynawide and Imprint are also worth a look.

Agreed - they've improved a lot from their "junkware" beginnings (don't they have a plugin called "Screamo"?)

Deres, Detroubler, Dynawide and a few others are bargain sleepers.

Ken Burns's eight-part, 16-hour documentary series, COUNTRY MUSIC, chronicles the history of a uniquely American art form, focusing on the biographies of the fascinating characters who created it.
This series is fantastic, one of my favorites. They spend so much more time on the background and history leading up to things like bluegrass and what we now consider "classic country". And luckily, they only briefly touch on what became "modern" country (because most of that from the 1990s onward is absolutely awful to my ears LOL).

I was never a fan of country music, but this documentary gave me a new appreciation for things like bluegrass and outlaw country.

Very highly recommended!

Sadly not available in the UK - I don't get why the internet has to be divided into regions?

OK found it on Amazon Prime for nearly £45 for the series

100% -- the reverse of that is there is a lot of amazing programming on the BBC channels that are more difficult to obtain in the U.S. without jumping through a bunch of extra (potentially legally ambiguous) hoops.

Looks like I can subscribe to PBS America for £3.50 a month - lots of good stuff there actually (Ken Burns seems to have also done a series on jazz that looks great)

Yes, I already have that one on Amazon. It is great. Keith David (who has one of the most awesome voices ever) narrates, and many other actors you'll recognize lend their voice talents.

The holidays are over, but there are still some sales running. I'm guessing the likes of Plugin Boutique, Audio Deluxe, etc. will have new freebies for the month come Monday.

If anyone is looking for a particular musical software/hardware deal, I'll try to point them in the right direction. ✌️

You young people. When I was young you could buy a Fairlight, a Synclavier and DX1 for £10 and still have money left over to buy a house.

What were we talking about again?

I've had some bad experiences with their plugins, but I'm going to demo Deres and Detroubler to see what I think. They look interesting and people seem to like them. I usually don't get great results with these types of plugins but would be nice if they are good

Post

Well, on a first session's test, I gotta admit that Deres and Detroubler both seem pretty good. Have to give my ears some time to rest and come back to see for sure what I think of the results, but initial impression is good

(And to stay on topic, both are on sale currently for $10 at pluginboutique)
