Yeah, I actually always found it weird that AA uses right click to move clips (by default I think). And control-right-click-drag to create new copies. But I got used to it pretty quick. CoolEdit aka AA is still my favorite editor .""
I just used right click then "loop duplicate". I also like how yo ucan just right click on a blank track and import a wav file. I just find to to be faster than typing things.
There are things I like about Cool, and thinks I dont like. The effects implementation sucks compared to Tracktion. Thats why I want Tracktion to have the choice of right click function, individual clip looping, etc. so I can just have one app. I can master on one track in Tracktion just fine.

The good thing about the Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V method is it will automatically stack the clips next to each other in the track. This way you dont have to move the pointer to a new location all the time before you paste.
Coming from the Tracker scene, I had to learn keyboard shortcuts to get anything done as there was very little in the way of mouse support. Shortcuts are often the best way of doing something fast.

Put your start marker near as poss to the clip and keep pressing F6 and it will zoom in around the marker. If your clip is so small you can use the left and right arrow keys to get nearer to your target.Montana wrote: Also, im noticing that when I create small unused edits, you simply cant delete them. Even though the mouse pointer is smack in the middle of the small clip, you cant bring up the delete option. IT;s very time consuming.
Hope this helps

i still find the RIGHT-CLICK + DRAG method of zooming to be the best (i have the wheel set to scroll because you can do this anywhere), and is lightning fast. i couldn't think of anything to complain about things where bits are too small because it's so fast to zoom in and then back out again, i wouldn't even notice. all programs should have this feature.
i hate using premiere or other 'old fashioned' timeline based apps because they don't let me do this!

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I like this approach: you know you can edit the looped clip as if it were a long audio file?Montana wrote: Im looping clips. When I choose to loop a clip, it creates one giant clip. Is there a way around this? It should not work like this. 4 new looped clips should each be individual clips. Yo ushouldnt have to go and splice everything up again to move stuff around.
Hold <ALT> and drag-select all the little clips: now simply press delete..Montana wrote: Also, im noticing that when I create small unused edits, you simply cant delete them. <CNTRL> drag the clip to where you want it, and you get a copy. If you release the <CNTRL> key before dropping the clip it will start snapping.. I love it, its the only way I copy anything! (also works for notes in the piano roll.)Montana wrote: Also, copy and paste. Im trying to copy a clip and paste it in another area in the same track. I right click on the clip, select copy, but when I go further down the same track and right or left click, there is simply no option for me to put that where I want it.

Sorry, the snapping bit applies to MIDI note editing of course.. snapping for clips depends on your "Q" key..platinumears wrote:If you release the <CNTRL> key before dropping the clip it will start snapping.. I love it, its the only way I copy anything! (also works for notes in the piano roll.)

And the best part is you can grab the little "|" handle, and create stutters and what not by shortening the length of the loop. It's absolutely awesome. Also it's sorta gives you acid style painting, in that you can just drag the clip forever... and your loop is right there.platinumears wrote:I like this approach: you know you can edit the looped clip as if it were a long audio file?

Thats one way of lookingat it I guess. But there should be an option to loop as seperate clips so you dont have to re cut them.

no, it shouldn't - looping is used when you want the same sample to be played several times in a row - arranging is made much easier when I only have to move one clip instead of several onesMontana wrote:Maybe it's me, im not sure yet

dunno what you're referring toAlso, im noticing that when I create small unused edits, you simply cant delete them. Even though the mouse pointer is smack in the middle of the small clip, you cant bring up the delete option. IT;s very time consuming.
ever tried crtl + drag'n drop? (jeez)Also, copy and paste. Im trying to copy a clip and paste it in another area in the same track. I right click on the clip, select copy, but when I go further down the same track and right or left click, there is simply no option for me to put that where I want it. Looping the clip and moving it wont work because Tracktion creates one big giant file instead of smaller loops.
didn't know that Audition is a non-destructive sequencer...This is quite frustrating. The Audition way is far superior at least for audio. Much quicker.

Ah ok. But "looped clips" means looped clips. What if I want to loop 18x in one track, and then bounce the loops to other tracks for arrangement while spreading the loops around? I guess that going back over repeating new loops with drag ctrl 18 x is faster than one function that makes 18 seperate clips?
There should be an option to do it both ways.

Yes I have. I just prefrred the other way.
