As well as coming up with new presets from scratch, I think it would be a good idea for me to make just a few versions of popular Zebra2 or Hive presets. Trouble is... I have no idea which ones - there are so many presets to wade through!

Somebody already mentioned "Esoteric Garden", which I then used as inspiration for "Garden of Earthly Delights" in Zebra 3. Of course it sounds very different, but the DNA is in there - which is what I'm aiming for. To be clear: Zebra 3 is a very different beast!

Any more requests, chaps and chapesses?

A request for something completely different, then:

Cat Pluck, please! A lot of fun can be had with the controls for that one …

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I'll happily mention one of my all time favourites: Chicago Skyline from Hive.
It has this character and a quality that just hits my body. I've used it a lot, tweaked it a lot, come back to it over and over simply because I know it'll add emotion to whatever I'm working on.

Among the more complex patches, I'd love to hear Zebra3 in the landscape of Metaphorium, as I guess that's an area for Zebra3 to really shine. Dark, crispy sound. I can mention Mandorgan and Romantic Marbles as patches that both impress me and are easy to get going on.

That is a great idea! I often try to recreate sounds from other synths/musicians and learn a lot from that or stumble across happy accidents.

I second Chicago Skyline but also Hive's Cloud M9 is yum! I have messed with this one a lot, added an octave lower base to it to make it more "grounded" and other sorts of derivatives. Also, ZebraHZ's "Instability 2" and "Back in the day" are great patches. Yeah, there are a lot of good sounds to pick from...

Hero Heato got a ton of playtime for me. (+1 for the pun name too Howie!)

I also loved Red Square as a great wide square bass.
Feel free to call me Brian.

Nice Idea! I'll throw in a few:

Hive 2: HS Battle Begin (is this also the default patch?), HS CS Harmonics, Singing Hive
Zebra 2: CS80 Vangelis Horn, HS Jazz Dogbox, Arcadia

All new from scratch please. Its a lot of money to pay for reworked sounds I already have.

No worries, he does not offer to copy them, he wants to take their gist and bring them to a new level.

Here's my two cents after playing with the Zebra 3 demo. It seemed like there were quite a few patches which showcase Zebra's advanced features. I would prefer to have more bread and butter patches (leads, brass, vintage keys, pads, plucks, strings, etc.) that would be useful within the context of a normal song rather than sound designer demonstrations (exotic atmospheres of the rainforest).

As for specific patches, the first one that comes to mind for pads is "HS Little Blue Planet" from Repro 5.

I would love a bread and butter toolkit and template as a starting point, 10 of biggest go to presets is always, lately or solid fm type bass, a juicy thick full rounded moog growly funk bass, a slap and precision fingerd bass, a vocal type lead like a saarr fairlight, an electric piano, hammond organ, flute and always a nylon or spanish guitar. After these are coverd then i look at more esoteric but "practicle" instrument sounds for contemprorary and cinematic music.

I concur 100% if the practicle basic for everyday contemprory music is useful then i always will use the synth.. if it has 1000s of irrelevant sounds of some airy fairy sonic experiments i just ignore the synth.

That being said i got excited about Zebra 3 but when I hear what preset demos the people where demoing i did not bother even to download the synth and check it out. Not because it is bad at all and I know it will be great in the right hands with the most powerful cpu, it is just not the sounds that i would find to click with my personal taste and projects. Also the Heavy Cpu is just a big "not worth it" feeling same with Serum2 for that matter.

So i just stick with Diva, Ace, Repro, Bazille and Zebra Legacy. I know its all personal but with the Uhe Synths i have active I think all my basses are coverd for my project and I am battling to find the justification to dl Zebra3 and test it eventhough i am one of the fortunate ones to have it for free. The other alpha plugin Urs demonstrated that Urs said could be used to create wavetables that can be exported for use in Hive2 and serum, now that got my attention but Sadly Urs let it fade into twilight.. something that I wished Zebra3 had was resampling like izotope iris2. That would have been the defining thing for me and product seperation in the Urs Stable..

I wish they would be copied as well and these could be used for further sonic expansion with more extended features of Zebra 3

HS Fuzzy Feeling is one of my favs. Tried to replicate it in Z3 but found that the FM feedback behaves quite differently. According to Urs: "I'm sure that one can be done closely in Z3, and probably with fewer modules". I'm afraid I lack the skills to do it, but I know if anyone can do it it's you! Please and thank you :D

The final preset bank will be very balanced, I'm sure.
