PreSonus Hub?
Exactly. There is no "manager" needed to install S1 or anything to do with it.

The v6 users were proven right to wait, and the v7 users have been burned by Presonus giving up halfway through the year.

Who's left to buy the next version?

I wouldn't say I got "burned" at all. V7.2.3 is as rock solid as ever and for the $149.00 I paid to get it - what I got was worth about $149.00 but certainly no more.

But - I am sure glad I am on a free perpetual license now.

Best place to be to survey next steps and see where this all goes.

I think if PreSonus Fender are going to continue on with this yearly renewal fee, they’re going to have to introduce a maintenance plan that is separate from the blanket upgrade version and significantly cheaper than it. The regular price for it needs to be under $100.

ALL these plans are dead. And please do not offer a "third" option.

I simply cannot square how any user would have actually paid money to renew "annual updates" after Oct 12 , 2025 - given what transpired last year.

If they did - I guess I need some deep schooling as to why.

And if you are on a sub - that one I really do not get. You saved 20 bucks at one point in the distance past - but you received nothing of any value this entire past year and are in essentially the same boat as the rest of us "annual updates" guys/gals who are now on a free perp license.

As a very happy S1 user since 2011 - never in all my time with any company - have I ever seen more convoluted (and confusing) ways to purchase a basic piece of software - ever.

The experiment is over. Return to the standard upgrade model. Raise the price if it makes you feel better - some will be OK with that and some will not.

But Fendersonus is in enough trouble right now - they cannot continue these lame excuses for cash flow. They are not working.

If they want cash flow - the answer is clear as it always is. Make S1 into the best of the best again - and the money will come. It always does

Here is a bit of news regarding soon-to-be former Fender CEO Andy Mooney:

FENDER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Jan. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Edward "Bud" Cole as Chief Executive Officer and member of the FMIC Board of Directors. Cole will serve as CEO-Designate effective January 19, 2026, and will officially assume the CEO role on February 16, 2026. It looks like Andy failed his way right out of the company.

Wow, this is all too much. No mention of PreSonus or DAWs in his background or messaging. This guy built his career in Asia with QVC and Ralph Lauren.

Looks like my current Studio One version or whatever they release before mid-March will be my final version. I've been spending time setting up and re-learning another DAW. Workflow and convenience are getting a fresh look. Time to put PreSonus in the rear view mirror, it looks like Fender already did.

10 years at Fender, President of their APAC area. He’s not new to Fender. nothing bad here, per se, for the company as a whole.

(Not commenting about DAWs, that’ll clearly never be a Fender priority.)

He also thought people would willingly hand over $150 a year as some kind of corporate charity program, because value for money is so over in the woke era of owning nothing.
If this guy expects to remain as CEO and has any skills at his job whatsover - first thing good ole Andy needs to do is stop listening to whoever is telling him that subscriptions are a good thing. No one cares.

The second thing he should do is to let Presonus - be Presonus and take care of business - their own way.

This last 4 years of this "merger" has been a complete disaster - and if I were on the board for Servco Pacific - I would remind him of this - loud and clear during this years upcoming 1 on 1 performance reviews.

Is that supposed to somehow be worse than Andy Mooney’s background at Disney?

So...? There's no mention of Bigsby, Gretsch, Jackson, etc. either. Seriously, what do you expect?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that annoucement (okay, serial killer grin aside...)!

This is a great piece of news - but I do not think it will have any impact on us - unfortunately.

I can see a freshly branded new 'Fender Studio One Pro' DAW soon to launch. Its exactly like the old Presonus Studio One you know and love, but with requisite UI tweaks to bring it in line with the recent 'Fender Studio' app. This will help ease those (mobile/hobby/solo) users wanting a familiar environment to move their recording, producing and mixing skills, up to the next level.

And along with new pricing etc, the whole situation will I believe, all largely be ok... the sky isn't falling in, folk will either spend money to update or not, Studio One will continue to work just as you/we've always loved, we'll all get on with our lives...
System 1 - Win11; i9 13900HK miniPC; 64Gb; Iris XE graphics; Cubase 15.0.10; Studio Pro v8.0.3;UR44 i/o
System 2 - Win10; i7 4790; 16Gb; GTX750Ti; Cubase v14.0.41; WLab Pro v12.0.51; StudioOne v6.6.4

Sounds reasonable.

But until we see what this looks like, price points and what we get (or not) - I will be treading carefully.

I have already decided that taking the Presonus name out and putting the Fender name in - feels sour to me.

This change will not bode well longer term - espeically when many already view the Fender name as a huge negative post-merger given this company's innate lack of any ability (after 4 years) to do anything positive whatsoever with our (current) favorite DAW.

And then there is this - apparently dropping tomorrow:

2026-01-12_10-28-44.png

Interesting mix of the old school Presonus sonic waves logo on the mic/headphones but Fender squarely on the interface...

Jan 13 - big day tomorrow...
