And the description is about Reason as a studio hardware emulation.

Reason’s strength has always been its rack and how it emulates a real hardware setup. I’m surprised they never went modular, with completely separate oscillator, filter, and modulation modules you could patch however you want. But the built-in sequencer is another story… I really dislike it. Reason is a great plugin to use inside another DAW, but as a standalone DAW, it can’t compete.

For those worried about LANDR being focused around AI, I don’t think that’s a thing to worry about. They’re not like SUNO where it generates full songs with a prompt. In fact, their distribution service rejects AI-created songs. They use AI the good way, mainly to speed up the mastering process.

I'm of the opinion still that open up for vst was a mistake. Focus on the daw side of things. Especially with some kind of clip launch. Imagen; one environment for everything.... instruments, effects and daw gets updated all in one. I think that could be great for collaborators also.

built the AI-powered music platform, with investment and backing from music industry players like Sony, Shure, and Warner, and recent growth fueled by European firm Verdane.

Wait... wasn't that the online DAW named" Find My Song" That dead broke college professors backed?

The reason why it failed is basically it would try to find similar sounds/snippets/songs which are copyright/publishing right protects and own by Sony/Warner.

Is it from a Reason employee?

This seems a much more typical acquisition, though I wouldn't have thought Landr would have the kind of money to pull this off. I think this shows how relatively small Reason Studios is and why their development cycle is not typically very impressive. I'm not too gloomy about this but given the state of... everything, I'm also prepared to be disappointed! :)
LANDR is a great company with good people, so this could actually turn out to be great news for Reason users. Reason had been going downhill for quite a while. I heard LANDR was in talks to acquire macProVideo before it shut down but the asking price was way too high. Now I'm curious what kind of number they ended up paying for Reason. Probably not much.

Its the only reason I bought Reason. Actually to be more precise its their Rack plugin… How could opening for a standard be a mistake? I bet it doubled their user base instantly…
There are some gems in the rack, that are unique enough to get it. Friktion is one of them…

I just recently subscribed to Reason since I found out I can use the rack in my host. I would never try to use reason as a DAW. On a side note I still had my license of Re-Birth in my account! That was a long time ago.

Given the Rack already works in any DAW (AU and VST) they dont have much work to do! I can only assume the Rack will end up being a standalone (maybe free) delivery method/shop for for Reason rack/Re stuff.

Worrisome across the music software industry.

These companies have so much stupid money it’s going to be hard for well established companies to say no.

Struggling to remain competitive or just cash out and reduce the stress. I think many will look to reduce stress especially in uncertain times.

Hopefully Ableton and Bitwig can remain independent companies.

Among other things i think many Reason users moved to other DAW's with their aquired vst's.
But we shall see what this company will do.
If they added clip launch and with the Reason stability it would be interesting :)

The Reason DAW can of course be improved, but I think it is fighting for space in a pretty saturated market and competitively priced market. selling the instruments/fx to all DAW users is a much larger market and Reason has some pretty compelling offerings.

But they already do that (although not device by device)

There is a rumor going around that about half of Reason's staff has been let go:
