It isn't desperation; I'm sure we all understand things have changed and aren't going back to what they were. Again, that isn't the point. The point is the words previously spoken mixed with the changes themself are concerning to some, and they are expressing this.

I doubt we really need to jump ship because you say we should. Maybe a move to another DAW is the solution or maybe publicly stating apprehensions about the now and future then hanging on for a bit longer is the solution.

I see it seems you've made 35 comments in this thread alone. Over 2 pages of a 12 page thread are you. I understand this means the topic is an important one for you too yes? We can agree we all are interested in this topic and have a right to express ourselves, even if you don't find value in the views.

Absolutely. I have no problem with anyone expressing anything. But I am also allowed to express my opinion as well - whether you like the answer or not.

If you do not like a post - simply ignore it or let's have some conversation about it - either way it's fine by me.

Even better - maybe we could all try to make note of actual topic of this thread and try to stay on it?

Because the topic of this thread does not say "Let's flashback to Sept 29, 2024 and continue to ballbreak a tired Studio One v7 video that still triggers some users in here in January 2026".

If that topic remains a going concern - maybe a new thread should be started so any users that want to keep discussing that can jump in there and rehash this stuff all over again.

all this talk of DAW jumping over corporate name changes and acquisitions is a little silly, The old versions still work and if you like the new version get it. Eventually all these daws will be consumed by corporations, canned, rebranded, be loaded with AI, etc. I cant imagine you can sustain a business model purely on daw software these days with the amount of decent free or super cheap things out there. Fender , unlike when Gibson, has a real stake in the digital game with amps, digital modeleers, now audio hardware, pa products, and a daw. I don't see it going south anytime in the near future, but I could be wrong. Today I think this new update seems pretty good overall. Seven didn't offer anything for me so I skipped that one..

Seems a bit of a mess for who got the "gift" and who got the "we're just not going to say anything about the 3rd update to v7 whose features we held for the rebrand"
All these "free" folks seemed to have acquired their licences via hardware purchases. Does not apply to 99.99% of us.

As far as the "rebrand" goes - it's here and the door was officially closed yesterday on any more gripes etc about v7 and that goofy schedule they laid out.

No point in continuing to go on about that.

What’s strange to me is that I bought Quantum HD8 November 24 and registered and got 1 year of plus subscription (when I already have the perpetual) with it but I still don’t have the “gift” in my account.

I haven't been able to figure out yet while some folks are getting a freebie and some aren't.

I suspect that a common thread is these folks boiught hardware "recently" (like within the last 6 months or so) and that may have something to do with it.

If I do come across anything definitive - I will post back.

I think we should accept this is Presonus/Fender's own doing, by their own actions, and these points are going to continue to linger in all Studio One / Studio Pro threads for some time as a result.

I watched that video many times just like everyone else did. And we all drew our own conclusions on it and what it might mean.

I accepted it for what is was - an aggressive schedule that Presonus felt great about at the time of that video shoot. For me - it was never about promises or guarantees. It was just them - telling us - their plan to give us "great stuff - faster".

But they were unable to execute for reasons only known to them.

If we could have been a fly on the wall over there at Fendersonus this past summer - I am sure the "real" reasons for their lack of delivery and/or communications (or whatever you want to call it) - would end up being both boring but clear at the same time.

If I were to speculate - it probably all started with a email from the Fender guys to the Presonus guys on some Tuesday in Spring 2025 that said "Important meeting at 1:00pm - Attendance is mandatory" and off we go...

But I am pretty sure the die-hard Presonus crew felt just as shitty about not delivering as we did about not getting "great stuff - faster".

I was just as annoyed as anyone else when July-August-September cruised by and nothing happened. However I refuse to believe it was malicious or on purpose. It simply "was" and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Hoping those that continue to linger on this can move on. Looking back is never a good thing.

And....back on topic :)

I think this change of owner will turn out to be good. Look at the missteps Presonus was recently making with Studio One. I liked it when Presonus Studio One became one pro version. I think most people did. That was likely Fender making that decision.

That's not a red flag, it's a positive. The improvements while not very many, are also all very good. Like the single click on the channel strip. A sign they will make a small detail improvement.

Eventually though some of us will use AI to finish songs. If you have a song sketched out ready for all the mixing, arranging, fixing, etc that will take a long time to finish in a DAW. I just head Suno turn a guy on yt guitar+vocal song he improvised 30 years ago into a near perfect masterpiece of song craft. It gave me goose bumbs.

And Suno now has a multitrack editing DAW type tool.

No just people who had some time left in their update plan - I only bought my update in June last year so was pleased to see this in my account. I'd imagine that's a fair few active users - certainly a lot more than 0.1%

I can only repeat what I wrote before: if we assume that the Reddit screenshots are not faked, the v8 license shown there is tagged as “gift”. And I doubt that people with a valid update plan are getting v8 as a gift.

Mine says 'gift' too but I do not own their hardware - I have no idea why they added that tag - I just assumed it was their weird way of saying it's a free update

Same here, no hardware.
Maybe they call it "gift" because it`s a "major" update. Who knows.
It`s not a bug... it`s a feature!

I had no active update plan and received a 'Vendor: Gift' license.

You have users who say they had v6, never purchased 7, and now have a v8 license in their accounts. Some stating they purchased in November-December 2024 and they received a free license. Others are stating that they received no v8 license yesterday, and received one in their accounts today. Could be a rollout, but who knows what's going on. Worst case scenario is they strip everyone of their 'Gift' licenses and create a bigger PR nightmare.
