Well I tend to look at the Software packages as a whole, and sadly the quality Steinberg are putting out lately is so poor it makes me wonder where the company is going, lets hope it improves with the Yammy take over.
This is the first time I’ve not upgraded Cubase in the 12 or so years I’ve been using it, I thought SX 1 was a mistake so I give Steiny the benefit of doubt and upgraded to SX2 and its not until 2.2 its been much use to me.
It seems SX3 is another Buggy release so nothing has changed.
After being let down twice I decided to look at Sonar and thought I would give it a try starting with XL 2.2 then Pro3 and have upgraded to Pro4, I must say I was, and still am impressed with the stability and power of Sonar.
Its such a refreshing change to look at the feature set, and get it working like it should.
These feature lists are all well and good in Cubase and some look really impressive, but in my experience some of the features just don’t work like they should, and all that talk about Sonar not being any good with VST Plugin’s is just a joke I’ve had more problems with VST Plugin’s in SX, and would you believe some of those plugin’s were made by Steinberg.
I really like some of the features in SX (the ones that work) and hope in the near future Steiny get there act together, we need good competition to push development that benefits us all.
