That is a third off what it used to be.

A "better" deal most likely will not appear for a very long time.

Good luck finding those now. v7 was pulled from sale two days ago from all my usual spots.

Not saying you might not stumble onto an outlier - but you better move fast.

My take is that Fender wanted to fast release Studio One under they name that they forced Presonus to halt Studio One Pro 7.5 and make it Fender Studio Pro 8.

I won't upgrade until I see a really good upgrade offer.

~25% sales tax? That's the most outrageous aspect of that conversation!

VAT always depends on where you live - I for instance usually have to pay none at all. (In my country it depends on the shop used (Verifone/2Checkout/Avangate costs me and so did Digital River - always only 8% though).)

I live in Romania, so at checkout I have to pay 538 RON which translates to $122,99 after conversion.

So…yeah…not gonna happen.

In my account I have the Pro versions of 6 and 7.
I’m kinda mad that Fender doesn’t allow dynamic discounts somehow.
Someone who has version 5 can pay $99 and upgrade to 8.
I have 2 freakin’ versions and I have to deal with $99 + tax.

Insane…

Some context and memory cells could help here.

Each and every upgrade from v1 to v7 was $149.00 each time.

So I will take $99.00 all day long

My main DAW is REAPER so I’m not in a hurry to upgrade.
I can wait.

Then you have nothing to be concerned about. Maybe ever.

It's strange that you seem to have some conversion loss - it converts it absolutely correctly in my case - but yeah, you have 21% VAT in Romania...

you could however purchase it over @ Audiodeluxe for 90$ (10% off with code SAVE10 - and they process the order in USD so you might end up saving even a bit more) - most retailers don't have it listed yet but they have... :tu:

Yeah, flush years of marketing and reputation down the toilet, rather than combining two established brands to broaden the application's appeal. You'd make the world's worst marketer.

Anyway, it looks like I'm getting it for free, which seems weird as I am almost positive it has been more than a year since I paid for v7. If I wasn't, I probably wouldn't bother with it at all, certainly not straight away. None of the new "features" or inclusions interest me in the slightest but the tweaks to the GUI look nice and recent updates have felt a lot more robust, so hopefully that trend continues here. It also comes bundled with no less than 31 additional bits and pieces, which I will probably ignore completely, as I do most of the sample content and other rubbish it comes with. Even though I've recently upgraded my SSD and now have four times the space for this shit, I still don't see why I'd bother.

I will probably still wait for a couple of months to see what new bugs they may have introduced. We're in the middle of an album and I see no point in doing anything to jeopardise getting that out the door.

For newbies, though, it's a pretty compelling offer, basically everything you need to get up and running. They bundle a lot of third party effects but I reckon they should look at a few instruments, beyond the couple of Ujam drum things they've included. If they did a deal with Synapse, for example, they could include Hydra, which I'm sure nobody has bought in years, and maybe the original Legend.

Anyway, it is what it is and you idiots whining about it isn't going to change anything.

Yeah, I like Fender Hardware. But when the video starts by saying we are the NEW generation and Nile Rodgers is playing his strat which made him very very popular back in the 70's and 80's I do a double take.

Yeah, it’s an unmistakable juxtaposition of real a musician who made music that mattered in a time when musicians and music mattered, with “the new generation” which just LARPs for social media clicks.

It reminds me of all of these cringy franchise reboots over the last several years where they try to shoe-horn their kids into the roles.

OTOH most of those guys were trying to get rich and famous. They weren't exactly generating art for the sake of art. They were writing rock or disco for fame and fortune.

Todays 'artists' want the same. They just have a different path to getting there.
