Korg has a whole bunch of that kind of software in the Korg Collection:
https://www.korg.com/us/products/softwa ... ollection/

Steinberg also has a lot of it in Halion and Absolute (I've got Absolute):
https://www.steinberg.net/vst-instruments/absolute/

Multipoly is a straight up synth with very comprehensive modulation
and oscillator variety capabilities.
And some people like the sounds of the Montage.

I like the Montage stuff that's in Halion/Absolute. :tu:

(But this is the Korg Multipoly thread).

They offer better stuff under Steinberg's brand, so who cares
I do care! Yamaha could release all their synths as plugins just like Roland and Korg.
If you ACTUALLY care, you really need to get your facts correct, because Korg didn't release all of their Synths as plugins because there is no Kronos plugin with all of the Kronos engines. Kronos is the direct competitor to Montage/MODX

Roland also currently has nothing like Kronos or Montage and Zencore doesn't come close

I own a Montage M, and have the plugin. MODX is just a more budget friendly version of Montage

If you want Montage or MODX type sounds in plugin format and don't own the hardware Yamaha already makes that in their Steinberg division and it's called HALion7 and quite honestly HALion7 has far more sonic capabilities than Montage

I got my Montage M because I wanted a heavy duty 88 key road worthy synth, that had a great keyboard with Poly AT and was full of thousands of good sounding presets and sounds especially pianos that I can just use, while also having a robust sampler that I could import sounds I make at home with plugins for use on stage

Without the physical keyboard and control surface there is no need for Montage/MODX plugins if you have HALion7

Also - a minor point for some, but a major buying decision for me,
was that Halion has release velocity as a mod source.
I've never seen that in a Yamaha keyboard yet, and that's why I stopped buying them.
Halion also has other synthesis methods, beyond what Montage offers.

Korg Multipoly has RV too. In fact, it's a real modulation monster.

But that's the point, isn't it? In addition to a nevertheless good plugin you get a veey good physical keyboard! You don't get it if you purchase Halion.

Because you were just lamenting how Yamaha should sell plugins like Korg and Roland does without having to buy hardware

Would be great if you would pick an actual position instead of this foolishness because you either want to buy Yamaha plugins without buying the hardware or you want to buy the hardware and get the plugin for free. Which is it? Which time and post were you not being truthful in your position to the community?

Not to mention the fact this isn't a Yamaha thread

And for the record I can use my Montage and it's great keybed as a MIDI Controller, I do so all the time to play HALion7 instruments

The Zencore/Zenology Pro is actually the Plugin version of their Modern Hw Instruments.

The only thing missing is a second effect slot and the Supernatural sounds from the Fantom 0 Series or the 1 Piano thing in the Jupiter X/XM.
I never liked or used the Supernatural accoustic sounds since 1 note use up 8 notes of Polyphony and they never sounded any better than the PCM samples to me.

Why Are you quoting me and lecturing me about Zen Core? I know what Zencore is. It's the Roland JV engine from the early 1990s with a few tweaks ans extra sample content. It's Eric Persing's four partial Sample and Synthesis JV engine with some extra filter models and single cycle waveforms in addition to the sample content

What I said was
"Roland also currently has nothing like Kronos or Montage and Zencore doesn't come close"

Shall we compare what Montage and Kronos offers on comparison to Zencore? I would be happy to help you with that as you seem confused over that. Thanks for the lecture however

I thought you meant tha Zencore wasn't close to their Hw lineup so i think i missunderstood what you said.

I've been using this plugin a lot over the last year. It's great. Its weakest point is the layer's main voice part of the UI. The layout of the knobs and sections wastes empty space, but then requires clicking to switch between the middle voicing row (Filter A / Filter B / Pitch / Mixer) and the bottom voicing row (Noise / Ring Mod / Sync / X-Mod / Portamento / Drift & Voice Variation / Amp & Drive.) And if you have the middle row expanded, you have to then choose between showing Filter A or showing Filter B. I feel like they could have fit this all on a single screen in the same window size. The expanding/closing stuff wastes time, and since you can't ever see a whole layer's voice settings at once, it's easier to lose track of what's going on.

The sequencer and modulation stuff layouts I have no problems with.

Agreed. It was an odd choice. My biggest irritation, though, is how clunky it is to share patches between the plugin and the hardware. I often want to transfer between the two but I end up not simply because it's such a flow killer. But those are pretty minor gripes. It's a fantastic sounding synth.

There is an update for the hardware, v1.1.2, but the changelog hasn't be updated. Any idea what's inside?
