this was what lunchmoney judged to be a redundant feature, if applied to tracktion (if i understood correctly). I agree.

this is a verry helpfull T2 add-on if u loop the corus of a song & get the singer to sing it 10 times in a row (while its looped) u can then choose the best take or cut bits from each to get the best take & its simple to do because this new add-on puts each take in the right place in stead of 4 bars later in the trak

i will love it even though there is lots of work around's allready this will save time & let's my artist's be at there most creative!! if u dont like i dont give a fuk coz its in allready

calm down jens :D
jens wrote:But (and this is a big but) Cubase has recorded only one linear sample.
it doesn't much matter what the sequencer is doing behind the scenes, whether a looped take is really one long file or not. This discussion seems to be more about the impression that's conveyed to the user, and what appears in the timeline.

i interpreted jtxx000's description as: one part loops, while one long recording is being made.. this new recording is immediately visible, stretched out in all its glory, across the timeline.

yes, you got it right - now we're talking - e.g. Samplitude is doing it like this and also eXT (so it's not Acid-specific behaviour) - you then have to cut the single takes manually...
and while I personally prefer the way in which SX is presenting it (or at least was presenting it in version 1x) or even better the way in which Sonar 4 is doing it (to complicated to explain it here but wonderful workflow-wise) saying it makes 'no sense' or is 'redundant' if you have to cut the takes manually makes no sense.
Also it is rubbish to tell it's a different thing - it is not as it serves the same purpose - I use it in eXT all the time - e.g. I record an improvised guitar-solo of four or even ten minutes length over a four or eight bar loop.

The same I did with Sonar the same I did with Samplitude (Magix Audio Studio to be exact) but I can not do the same thing with T1. (that last little spot is a period)

that's not why i (or lunchmoney i think) said it's redundant.. see if you can find the real answer earlier in the thread ;)

in any case: i can't speak for lunchmoney, but i'm not pretending my preference is the 'best way for all'.. expression of personal (and personally biased) opinion and preference is all it is.

For the record, Jens, I understand what you're saying. That doesn't change the fact that you missed my point. Whether it's my fault or your fault that you missed my point is debatable, but it's not a debate I'm willing to engage in. Also for the record, you, I, and whoever else is involved are now engaged in a debate that's not exactly the same as the original one that made me bang my head. <chuckle>

What was frustrating me was that some people were still thinking that I was claiming that looped/cycled recording as announced on Mackie's T2 page is useless, which I never claimed.

The whole line of conversation is beginning to aggravate me. ;)

who did you say the fish was called?

Lunch Money wrote: In other words, say the drum loop is one measure, you'd "hear" that one measure looping over and over again, but as you record, you'll be recording in a linear way ALONG the timeline, not just backtracking to the beginning of that measure over and over again.

To which I said, "Why bother? Why not just copy and paste [the drum loop], or work out your drum arrangement ahead of time." Also, I'm sure there are other VST that will allow continuous playback of a loop while you're recording anyways. I just don't see the point of that functionality.

I didn't say I didn't engage in any OTHER related debates, or that people don't have the ability to derail me. (I'm easily derailed)

You really are an obstinate dickhead at times, Jens. ;) Still, I'll happily engage in pointless conversations with you any day. <chuckle>

:D

it's only pointless because you started making claims with no real point...

if you'd really be interested I could explain you recording situations where it is desirable that 'this new recording is immediately visible, stretched out in all its glory, across the timeline'....

The above post still shows that you don't understand me. ;) The only thing that's still a bit aggravating is that you have the tendency to see things one way, and once you're set in your interpretation of someone else's words, you make the assumption that you've got it right.

Sorry, but you've still got it wrong. :D Luckily, my aggravation is turning to a bit of a smile as I graciously accept that people are different and it's "OK" for me to stop trying to help you understand me. You're allowed to not get it, Jens. ;) And if you firmly believe that I've missed YOUR point, it's quite OK for you to let it go without me ever understanding you.
