Now we added two more, and suddenly it is not enough... that is something I can't really wrap my head around...ThoughtExperiment wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 10:09 amWhy aren't there more CC options to choose from in the list of sources in the mod Matrix?![]()
Here's an idea: Why don't you MIDI Learn the X value of ModMath 4 and then move all targets from Pressure to ModMath 4. I don't think there'll be many presets where ModMath 4 is taken, and this way you get an extra CC for free.
8 macro's (simple knobs)
8 lfo's
8 mseg's
8 modmappers
8 different random mod sources
4 noise sources
4 eq sources
4 exciter sources
4 modal sources
4 comps
4 reverbs
4 modulation fx
2 or 4 texture reverbs
4 eq's fx
and the ability to send everything into everything

Btw the ability to send everything into everything... that's already there, no? At least for Mod Sources this has been improved over earlier builds...

Yeah, exactly!jtsterays wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:06 pm Yea, what's wrong with just having 8 automatable macros knobs? In FL, the way to access the CCs to automate them is such a pain in the ass.
There's noting wrong with 8 macro knobs. The 4 we have are based on the wishes of two dozen sound designers who do not want to spend a large portion of their time on setup with little returns. 4 seems a good compromise. If another 4 are "User Only", I don't see a problem.
But again, we haven't fully finished the 4 yet, as per requests during this beta phase. Let's do that first, then evaluate how well (or not) this works, then maybe do a proper survey.

Yeah, I think there is a threshold from when it makes more sense to use a second instance of Zebra. Anything "8" I think crosses that threshold significantly often.

That's fair. 2 questions though:Urs wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:24 pmYeah, exactly!jtsterays wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:06 pm Yea, what's wrong with just having 8 automatable macros knobs? In FL, the way to access the CCs to automate them is such a pain in the ass.![]()

- Will they be renamable in the future?
- You talked about how Serum and it's clone (eg Vital) have too much tabbing, but these macros knobs are in a tab, wouldnt it be better if they're always shown like in those synths? (I'm aware that this requires a GUI rework)

Yep. 4 is good enough. 5 if you also consider the Modwheel. Even if there are xy pads planned for the future, I hope they are powered by these 4 only. I have created sound packs for sale and also other composers. Finding meaningful variations in a synth patch is hard beyond a certain number.Urs wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:24 pm Yeah, exactly!![]()

I’d rather get more filters, filter types and sound shapers.

That would be a disaster... it would completely break the UI.exmatproton wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 1:31 pm

Urs, what happened to Vintage and Vintage2 filter types? What is the closest to these in zebra3?

We're considering labels. This would not change their names in drop downs, but it would let people specify what they do.
I don't know. I use MIDI, and I think many people want them to use automation or expressions. Those things are in the host, I'm not sure we permanently need to put them on the screen. You talked about how Serum and it's clone (eg Vital) have too much tabbing, but these macros knobs are in a tab, wouldnt it be better if they're always shown like in those synths? Speaking of Serum, who needs to permanently have Vel/Key Curves available? Why not tuck something like that away for the one half minute anyone needs to set them up - and use the freed up space for something more frequently useful?

Haha thanks. Was it Z3?Urs wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 10:00 amThe analogue modelled filters have various asymmetric types of distortion.JoeLowery215 wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 2:15 am Urs am I mistaken that there’s no diode or asymmetrical type of distortion? I know Z2 had different OD’s for the filters..
What synth was used? Also slightly unrelated but how was the synth intro done on your recent videos? The “VHS” tape effect is nice and what synth was used? Ha!
Thanks![]()
As for video editing, I think it's always the latest daVinci Resolve.
I meant the awesome lo-fi sound effect on the synth. Sounds great
Yea I figured the filters had asymmetrical distortion. Thanks
