Sample size for import?

I recall reading something about this but can't find it with search. What is the optimum size of sample to import? I recall reading that low pitched samples will have more detail.

If I import a sample that's oversized, will the import process average across the whole sample length or just use the first section and drop the rest?

Mainly I want to import snippets of field recordings with interesting textures, not instrument samples or wavetables from other systems. I'm not expecting Zebra to replicate the sound of the sample, just provide interesting starting points for oscillators.

Due to a bug in the sample importer that could lead to a crash or deadlock, we have vastly reduced the maximum size to a few thousand samples I think. Unfortunately there are still possible deadlocks.

This is why we call it experimental.

We will revisit the whole thing at some point, and hopefully fix those bugs.

I just don't have a timeline yet, we're currently concentrating on making everything else happen that Zebra needs to do.

No problem. I already got some cool results. I think it makes waveforms one would be unlikely to craft by hand. So it will be a valuable tool at some point, when it stabilizes. No hurry!

edit: patch is for Z3 not Zebralette BTW
