Agreed!

I'll pop it up the stack.

I haven't seen one do this actually, do you know one?

I think what would be definetely cool for Shortcircuit XT and Surge XT (or realy any vst) would be an automatic limiter. That would save so much head ache sometimes...
It doesn't really work like that unfortunately :-( Most plugins are limited. The reason for the external limiter on the bus is if there happens to be a bug in the plugin, you can't really trust that limit. So during a beta period, it's a smart move to also have an external, known-working solution.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for. What I would love to have, in any daw I use, would be automatic brickwall limitng. So I don't even have to risk getting my ear blown out or dealing with digital distortion by not properly leveled out vst or sample library (mainly drums).

Reaper.
Yeah but that one just mutes it when it gets too loud (I have used Reaper for almost 8 years by now - though I prefer Logic a little more)

Surge has an adjustable hardclip at the end of chain. Shortcircuit right now does not.

But even in that cases, the advice stands.A spike into an 18db threshold handclip is still bad for those in ear headphones. And also, what if we get our auto-limiter wrong! :)

Of course you can do what you see fit, but when i am doing dsp dev i do my first play with my in ear headphones around my neck not on my ears!
thanks

It is what you are looking for & its better than a limiter, but I see your on mac, some company does a paid version for mac but I cant remember the name

As for automatic you set up a template with it on the master so every project has it

its especially bad (or good) on macOS where there's really nothing between the floats and the headphone amp on your laptop. It's really easy to send 100db into in ear headphones with a coding error on macOS.

I love my mac and I love logic, but I learned the above lesson the hard way and was ringing for a few hours. Hence the warnings on all our betas!

Congrats on the beta release, looks and sounds super useful!

There's some gorgeous low bass in that video, any chance of that appearing in the patch repo?

Next install will change multi-file drop to way more useful attached behavior. Build should be up in an hour or so.

Thats what I was asking about ,ty

How is the root key set when multiple samples are dropped like that

We were just discussing it in discord. Right now I chose to set the root key to the middle of each synthetically created range when dropping multi.

If you have a sample with root key metadata and you load it with double click it should read that from the sample.

But we realized this is probably an area which needs some focus as part of a larger auto-mapping effort we want to undertake, patly based on design we have and also based on what beta users find as they try to create instruments.

(In the most real sense, we are in beta because the synth is usable, stable, fun, and cool, so we want to encourage folks to enjoy it. In another sense we are in beta because the team has been staring at it for so long that we no longer are quite sure we know whats' in need of immediate addressing. Hence things like 'copy and paste an fx' or 'quick map a multi-drop' being things added day one of beta)

Hey, any RMS limiter set to -9dB in your preload song would do the job. Maybe -6dB if you're on loudness war.
