Change length without changing pitch or change pitch/tune without changing length. I don't think I've ever seen one without the other in a sample with timestretch.

Slicing a sample and retrig the slices is a fine way to timestretch, you can't go as far as ElasticAudio goes...
There was also a sample resync method to repitch in the early days of timestretching but now it is part of granular synthesis.

Slicing is not time stretching at all. Talking about melodic instruments here, not loops.

Slicing allows for time stretching, or let's say in other fancy words:
Time duration alteration
Time expansion/compression
Beat adaptive
...
And yes, it's useful for beats and melodies. It was in 1997, and it is already a way to go.

The first post was the first thing I read in this thread obviously. It says nothing about timestretch. If you’d read the last couple pages you’d see that the question was answered promptly. And if a slicer used a bit of timestretch (which short circuit doesn’t), generally slicers are not intended for making playable instruments. It’s usually for filling in gaps in loops and so on, not for experimenting with tonal qualities. Anyways, surge team knew what I meant.

My mistake, the question is asked/answered in the 1st-3rd posts of the second page by Andreya. It went too fast for me, as it took just minutes to translate and repost in spanish and then come back to read those questions answered.

I went ahead and added three more patches to the factory content. The bass patch used for the demo tune, a little electric piano-type affair, and a sorta church-organ sounding thing. They're all kinda nice I find.

We'll try to set up a workflow in the content repo to automatically zip things up as a release, to make it easier for y'all to download the factory patches. Sometime soon... In the meantime the easiest way for you to get it all is probably to press the big green button that says <>CODE and press "download zip". That gives you the readme file and everything as well (which you do not need) but it'll be nicer than downloading all the files individually.

We're currently mostly coordinating through discord, and are storing them on GitHub, but don't have a "process" yet as much as one of Andreya evil dragon or i help the author sort of coral them and submit them.

Most folks have been using a 'save part as monolith with collected sapmles' workflow and then zipping up the resulting Foo.scp and Foo Samples directory and getting it to us 'somehow' for us to stage on GitHub.

And CC0 samples only too!

I think EvilDragon has taken over Hollow Sun right? I had sampled my Wurlitzer 120 and Steve (RIP) had done the scripting and distributed it as Tublitzer. If ED, was open to doing a Short Circuit XT version, he'd certainly have my encouragement and blessing to do it as a freebie/factory set.

Or I could just share the raw samples. Pretty sure I have those zipped up somewhere.

Congratulations. A lots of good memories using Shortcircuit. Happy to try this one at some point. Does it / will it support drag-and-drop modulation?

Currently it's mod-matrix menu diving only. We have discussed adding gestures on top of that to speed up modulation assignments, but my estimate is that those changes are unlikely to get in before 1.0 since what we have now works well and there's other more critical workflow issues to sort out.

If/when we do get to it, I think it's more likely we'll do an arm/disarm modulation workflow akin to Surge (and later bitwig etc) than a drag-and-drop one. In part just because that's a really neat workflow (especially once you get used to modulation arm/disarm on a hotkey). But also because that's kinda the Surge lineage and many of us are used to it/like it more than D'n'D. And last but not least, the arm/disarm workflow works just as well in the screen reader UI as the sighted UI, whereas drag-n-drop works great in the latter but is a total disaster in the former. I remember one of our blind friends who contributed a lot of testing and feedback to Surge once said something like "if you gave me the choice of either do 10 drag-n-drop gestures on my computer or take a kick to the head from a trained thai boxer I might just take the K.O.".

Yeah, it was all very informal. I went looking through my emails and found our discussions, and even there, no terms were ever really established. That said, if I had the time, or inclination, I could always do it again. Or do the Wurlitzer 200 I actually play and/or Rhodes Mk 1. But deep sampling is boring and tedius AF and I doubt I have the time or patience.
