Been following the thread, great stuff here guyz, good posts & ideas.

Briefly, I just wanna say that I did not know that alot of Spotify "songs" were AI generated.

Is this correct? Because, that simply cheapens the whole damn so called "music industry" scene for all of us. If somebody who has never learned to play an instrument, practiced, can tell the computer..."hey, write me a song that sounds like Mozart", and it does...

Then what is the point?

Did the existence of Mozart’s music ever stop you before? It’s been around since before you were born, and surely you’ve always known you will never reach his heights. And yet you’ve persisted anyways.

Does the existence of cameras stop a painter from painting? Someone can make a perfect image of anything they look at with the press of a button. Surely that must make a painter wonder what’s the point in painting.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Alright, I will admit that is a good point.

NO, I did not mean that I would stop rock'n just because of AI. I am willing to explore & use it.

Computers are modern TOOLS, and that is simply my view.

It already writes better than us, but here we are :D

Actually, I don't think that it does "write better than us", it just analyzes everything ever done in history and can reproduce it at mechanical speeds that we cannot reckon...

People who are not paying attention may fall for some AI "shenanigans". :hihi: My position has always been that it is tool that can be used, responsibly. 8)

We are headed straight for the future folks, and we need to be aware.

Hey man, just wanted to thank you for this one!

A few beers, puffs...and this gave me a great big belly larf! And yes, I persist anyways. Mozart is awesome!!!

I read in a book, that when Handel's Messiah was first performed, that Joseph Hayden was there, and at the end of it, he rose up, cheering, applauding, and said something like "he is the greatest of us all". :hihi:

I don't really think in terms of "the best"...but rather, stuff we do is an expression of energy. Music, various types of art.

I don't really have much of an audience, as I only play live a few times a year. When I do, I give as much as I can whilst trying to play well.

I'll stop when I'm dead ... probably. :ud:
I didn't do the poll coz I don't agree with any of the options.

I already listened to that. And no, this only proves my point because of the awful artifacts, the butchered push-pull, the lack of release/tension, the lifeless performance and so on. This is far from anything any producer or audio engineer would consider professional. It's okay for a quick demo to get an idea about the vague direction for the final project but this can't be released, not even for free. This is not good by any means.

No, this might only be evidence for people getting worse at differentiating real from artificial, bots replacing human listeners or both combined. I'm also not playing your stupid reverse Sealioning troll game ("Look for you own proof" - "I did, that's why I think AI sucks" - "You didn't look hard enough"). So yeah, all you can provide is bogus arguments, just like the blockchain fanatics and cryptobros, it's always the same pattern. By the way, does your DAW have blockchain? No? Are you stupid?

I listen to every AI thing people post because I'm genuinely curious. But my reaction is always the same. At first I think people are trolling because their ears can't be that bad, right? But they genuinely can't hear all those artifacts. It took me one second with Let Babylon Burn to reach the "Something isn't right" state, two seconds to be absolutely sure everything is created by AI, not just completely incompetent humans. Two seconds. I think I have to reevaluate my views on mankind. I now get why people back then said things like "This looks totally real" about N64 games. They weren't kidding, they can't tell the difference between reality and a lowpoly model. Or a real recorded guitar and this mess from Let Babylon Burn that can't decide between nylon and steel strings or if it's played live or in a studio (Very different frequency response thanks to very different microphones put in very different environments mixed very differently). I could go into detail about what's wrong and how to fix it (or at least mask it) but what's the point? The AI fanboys can't hear those issues and they are too dumb and lazy for editing anyway. It's like playing chess with a pigeon.

I was interested in AI sound creation for scientific purposes and to create sample libraries just for fun (Impossible instruments). But everything I've heard so far is unacceptable. This is garbage considering how much effort has been put into it and how much subscriptions cost. I've heard more convincing electric guitars from freeware plugins. I've heard better compositions and performances from rookies who only had half a year of experience, just playing by ear. But I will keep asking for examples. I'm still curious if AI companies can find ways to reduce all those artifacts.

Funny and true :)

Hey folks, just use AI for what ever you can leverage from it, and keep doing your own tunes, probably the best way to go! :hihi:

It is a modern tool, that is what I have been saying...and will keep saying...just makes sense.
