Improved metering T2

I looked through a lot of posts in this forum to see if anyone had posted about the meter bug in T1.5, I couldn,t find anything so i thought i better mention it just to see if Beno or anyone else knows about it and can tell Jules to sort it out in the new (And very very nice looking new meters) ,When you use a plugin that has a midi output and sends velocity info for instance Microtonic T's meters are totally useless ,Now i tend to put Micro into a rack with a meter and disconnect the meters MIDI from it ,That does the trick but it doesn't give the ergonomic visual of havin the meter directly on the track ,Hopefully this has been sorted but i thought i better mention it :)

PS I've been in hospital for a month and a half and have only just checked the T2 feature list and its looking nice (that is at the rummoured $80 upgrade price) ,Lets just hope Loud dont fill the release up with crap plugins to bump the price for instance Finalmix (before anyone tries tellin me how good it is dont bother ,Finalmix is literally the most CPU killing plugin i have ever come across and my system is very very very fast)
Sorry for the tiny rant but im hoping i can actually afford the upgrade to T2 and judging by the pricing structure of Mackie products i may not be able to :(, I guess we'll find out soon (but i can live with T1 if i cant afford T2 anyway :D )

Shows you how much I use MIDI-- I never even noticed!

I'll take the opposite opinion, though, for bundled stuff-- I need more, and I don't mind paying a bit extra for it as long as it's not a LOT extra. FinalMix has really helped me out and I don't mind the CPU hit (there's always freeze or render!).

Hope you're feeling better, NAS!

Feeling a lot better thanx but as you can see from my little rant i still have a sore head  (Then again what do i expect surgeons have been poking around in it in the last few weeks  )

It took me a while to figure out what you meant, but I can now confirm that I have the same problem. But, aside from Microtonic, I've never used a plugin that outputs unwanted MIDI information, so I never noticed it. Besides putting it in a rack, you could also add a filter that doesn't affect audio output and kills MIDI input; Bram's "Anechoic Room Simulator" is great for this. :)

Anyway, it would be nice if there was an option in the level meter to monitor either MIDI or audio, rather than both like it does now. Guess we'll have to wait and see if it's already in T2.

why not wrap the plug in a rack - disconnect the MIDI out, and then put it on a track with a vol/pan and meter after it as normal

Funny you mentioned room simulator because if you use H20 by SMEX it has the same effect and also sounds great on Microtonic :)

Probably should have been clearer here ,I like to feed the MIDI output from Micro onto other tracks to trigger other things and using the technique you mention you cant ,Still that way will work if you dont use the plug to trigger stuff i suppose :)

ahhh...

yeah, you're a bit buggered there.

I'm not sure why things that are going out to any outputs other than the default audio out are even shown in the main meter.

As for track meters, they should really only show MIDI signals if there is no audio present.

Yeah but if MIDI and audio are sent to the track meter it just adds them together giving a false reading

Weird huh

They do mention improved metering, so I think there's a good chance this is fixed. It's probably more of an oversight in T1, rather than something intentional.

To be honest this isn't sorted yet. I've had it on the list of things to do ever since I started using Micro Tonic. I'll give Jules a Gental Nudge and we'll see if we can't sneak it in. There'a always 2.1 as well.
