I gave up on the Rupert Neve DI (for now
) and got a sE Electronics DM3 instead. It's a little beauty and works great with everything I tried. The Piezo I used is a Dean Markley.

The ART MP/C had a noise issue but a replacement works great. It's seems to be a dodgy rail issue on the first one, as I can still get output noise with the PSU connected and switched off. Not a problem in use though.
In use with basses, I'm bypassing the transformer XLR out, as the TS jack line out has a lower frequency response. Combined with the Warm Audio Passive DI gets the job done though, even though the impedance is technically wrong.
BTW for a bit of nostalgia, designacable.com have Piranha (Monoflex) cables. I thought they'd been discontinued.

I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Ordered a Recording King RD-318 Adirondack I thought they'd gone for good after the 1st batch sold out.
Top: Solid 30-year-old Adirondack spruce
Back and sides: Solid mahogany
Bracing Forward Shifted X
Neck: Mahogany
Fretboard and bridge: Rosewood
Neck profile: Thin V
Nut width: 42.90 mm (1 11/16")
Bone nut
Colour: Natural high gloss
A poor man's Martin?
And a Gator hardcase.

After a couple of years of strictly using Amplitube, Tonex, and Neural DSP I decided to scrap it all and go back to pedals. I discovered the Tone King Imperial MKII pedal and was just blown away buy it. This lead to trying the UA pedals...and I was pretty blown away by those too. I'm still using all FX in the box, but all amps and drives are on the board now. I don't know how I got along without an SD-1 and a Rat all that time. Hybrid setups are definitely the way.

The V neck isn’t an issue;
Quality control is not an issue.
I had one, forget the model. It was like an old Martin parlour shape. Had it set up. Had an amazing bass for a small body guitar. I played it at my brother in law’s wedding funeral (interesting slip!) party 10 years ago. 12 fret, slotted headstock.
My hand didn’t really enjoy the V shape, though, so gone. The guy who bought it from me was overjoyed.
Enjoy! The Adi top should give it some OOMPH!

My Feelings are the same s Bombadil. l liked the parlor body. I played it in front of a friend who hounded me day and night to buy it from me. Honestly never loved it. The guy who bought it from me said he loved it but actually never played guitar said that this was the guitar he wanted to learn on but never did.

It was a toss up between an Alvarez MD60BG (which has been sub £500 at Anderton's when on sale) and the Recording King RD-318. Sigma's solid guitars seemed worthy, just out of my price range. The RD-318 is no longer available on Thomann, they must have sold out.tapper mike wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:55 am My Feelings are the same s Bombadil. l liked the parlor body. In your price range, I would look at an Eastman E1D or E1OM. All solid wood.
Anderton’s did have the solid Sigma 000-18 on sale for half price years ago, before Brexit. I thought long and hard about it, but decided against. I’m picky, and I didn’t want the hassle of shipping it back to England if there was something I didn’t like.
Another option would be to save a bit more money. Get in the 1000£ range, and the quality improvement is generally significant.

Huh. I hope Alvarez gets the QC ship-shape.
After I bought my RK, had it set up, I thought it was the greatest bargain I’d ever gotten on a guitar.
So, I decided to try out a couple more.
On one, the nut was glued about ¼” off of the fretboard; yes, it was sticking out from the nut slot.
The other the sound was very anemic.
Neither were kept. To my mind, getting a RK that didn’t have issues was a fluke. I still had to have its frets dressed. I think it was an RO-16. similar.

It seems Thomann has deleted a lot of my purchase receipts. I dunno, they only keep them 10 years? I think I got a copy of everything one time when they were being annoying, and I threatened to take my money elsewhere.
So, I couldn't find out which RK model(s) I bought.
