I'm having an issue where dragging a sample into a drum pad or a sampler doesn't work--it just tries to drop it in the project instead. I know this is a wine issue. The workaround I have right now is to right-click and open it in the file browser and dragging it from there, but that gets tedious when creating a drum kit and constantly swapping out samples. A simple right-click copy option or Ctrl+C while hovering over a sample, then pasting into the drum pad, would be extremely helpful and a quick fix.

From what I hear elsewhere, drag-n-drop on Linux isn't simple. Each desktop interface does it its own way. There's no standard "drop event" to catch and X can't just tell Wine "something got dropped" as X doesn't get involved. So it's the Wine developers you need to talk to, to add drag-n-drop support to map all Linux desktops to the Windows equivalent events.

This is quite the type of nonsense that I feel could be elegantly handled and fixed by good developers creating NATIVE software for Linux.
I am sure that the folks working on WINE are awesome, and mean well. But it is not the real thing, and with the audio performance potential of the OS, it should have more of the real thing... native stuff.

No, native developers have exactly the same problems, I can tell you.

I'm not able to reproduce your issue. Maybe I didn't understand it correctly, but for me the drag and drop works fine. Maybe a gif or a short video could help illustrate the issue better.mindvox626 wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 9:11 pm I'm having an issue where dragging a sample into a drum pad or a sampler doesn't work--it just tries to drop it in the project instead. If you are not having this issue then there is hope for a solution. What distro do you got and what wine version are you using?

Ah.. indeed it doesn't work. What does work is if you drag a sample from the desktop or file manager into ML. But from within it does not. I think it's the same issue https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57697
I'm on Arch with Wine 11.2
