Hey, MuTools. (Why isn't MuLab more popular?)

Your post was stating that I was against video tutorials. If that's not twisting my words, then you need a lesson in basic psychology.

Post

I don't feel any twisting.
Possibly one had a different interpretation of what another wrote.
Text often is too flat to express the deeper human intention / tonality / meaning.
And also: Different users use different methods.
That's ok, no conflict :)

Post

I agree with what you say about text. But disagree on twisting my words. For your sake I will say no more. Apologies Jo.

Post

:hihi: Video tutorials are important!

I think I saw an actual one starring Jo himself!!! :hihi:

I love your accent, dude.  :hihi:

Oh well, and the product too!

Post

Agreed! But they shouldn't be a requirement to get started with new software. That's poor development!

Post

Well, it depends on the software...

Reaper has tutorials...because Reaper NEEDS tutorials!

I think more folks will get into MuLab and there will be more resources, like a community. I may contribute at some point, would like to, dealing with personal shit now. 8)

Post

It's happening, just too slowly. I find it hard to believe so many haven't even heard of it! Don't people research what's available? Or do they just pick the first they see?!

Post

I honestly think I could prolly help, but instead of making an effort, I just make silly posts on KVR.

:hihi: I am aware of this...I know I can do better. :hihi: :D

Even if people search for DAWs, MuLab is hard to find.
I think that's the main answer to the topic question.
It's due to the social media algorithms: Nowadays everyone has to scream for attention, almost every day, otherwise you don't count. That's a reality not only for commercial products, but unfortunately also for politicians.
I'm unable to fight that reality.
MuLab indeed needs a user base that is very active on social media. That's why i regularly ask that. And MuLab also needs more tutorial videos. On this last point i plan to work.

Well, that's what me and my team have planned. (Let us know once you've looked at the links with those live docs, etc.)

Your work is great Jo, very meaningful, and I think it is likely that some of us here on the forum, who somewhat follow this stuff... I can only speak for my self...could probably contribute in promoting it.

I know, I know... what are the cool people using, the influencers, right?

I am going to be putting out some sounds and music... :hihi: :hihi: well, some time. 8) 8) Lately I been spending my efforts sipping beer and bullsh*ting on KVR.

If I actually release some music and if I use MuLab ("not if"), I will mention it, to anyone interested.

They will know the product that I used!

It doesn't help where the big companies pay to have their products given freely with hardware. I think newbies go with what's been recommended or what they first try. Once they get into a product it becomes difficult to get them to change.

Post

Yes, that is a good point. It is not currently fair to compare MuTools to the bigger companies, and I have been wondering lately if MuLab has any sort of custom map for any hardware controllers, like Novation or Akai? I have not looked into this.

Post

That would most definitely be useful. Iirc muzys had some default setups for hardware.

It's worth getting hands-on and work out how a midi map fits your workflow.
It is fast to map Novation (or any controller) to MuLab, but being modular MuLab can be configured so many different ways that a "custom" map would likely suit only one "custom"er.
