Agreed. I have been fantasizing about this...

MuTools + u-he, + a few gigabytes of loops, could be marketed towards Bitwig and Ableton. :hihi: 8)

You guys, if you actually did it, would simply have to include sample data, loops, many gigabytes - because everone just expects it and that is that.

Urs said in a post awhile back, talking about Hive if I recall...like it should have high quality effects built in, because "everyone expects that now".

Also sample packs, loops... everyone expects that. Of course there are plenty of sounds available, but I still need another synthesizer.

Could such a product compete? With some advertising, word of mouth, forum posts like this...

Maybe...  :hihi:

Atlas 2 is better than battery.
Previously i installed only battery factory library to use in Atlas 2, i've built an Atlas map from those samples - that look like the absynth6 "preset cloud".
BUT its safer not to use battery samples in this current situation...

Aren't Battery samples in a proprietary format? Or are they wav/aif, etc.?

IIRC they are simple files, nothing special.
But I'm fed up with NI, and stop using their stuff.

Another Hungarian who cannot sleep? :)

Atlas 2 is great. One of my favourite plugins.
But the interface is too much of "click here to expand this panel" and etc and so on. Every time I use it I am always running around trying to find where to do things.

But apart from that - it's one of my favourites.
Neon City for u-he Repro - 80s pop & Synthwave soundbank
HARDWARE SAMPLER FANATIC - Akai S1100/S950/Z8 - Casio FZ20m - Emu Emax I - Ensoniq ASR10/EPS

Maan, it's morning / ok, early morning. Why should I sleep?

another DAW Locked high immediacy drum sampler is Tracktion's...but people tend to sleep on stock plugs

I actually liked Battery 4 quite a bit but it just never got an update to improve workflow or provide more modern features. XO is what I have been using for sone years now, but a mix between XO and Battery would be great (assuming we’d take the best of both ).

The fact that B4 is worse than B3 could be the earliest sign of problems at NI.
I must be one of the rare exceptions here...

I much prefer Battery 4 to any version that preceded it...

The workflow is so much faster and the new DSP they ported over is top shelf....

The built in effects are so good that you don't have to rely on any external processing if you don't want to....

Everybody has a point of view and that's OK,but Battery 4 is a workhorse that I use almost every day and I think it's a winner...

I love it

The only thing I would like is a resizable GUI 🙏
I have never used Battery, but I would like to offer some ideas.

Well I will be using it because I finally, finally got Komplete Standard. (half price, black friday) That is why I am in these NI threads, :hihi: because I have been wondering about my investment.

So I have no experience here, but I have to respect a good software company like NI to advance a product forward. Battery 4 is likely an advance, but maybe interface changes upset some users?

Anyhow, posters were saying the same thing about Groove Agent...that version 4 was not as good as previous versions... I only know version 4 and it is pretty damn dope to me.

Of course not. If there'd never been a Battery 3, nobody would know how much V4 sucks.

Well, they've been abandoning several other rather popular products before already.

What exactly is faster? I can't think of much, if anything.

I think the next thing you'd like is them to support it - as soon as it doesn't run on your system anymore (for whatever reasons). And that's not gonna happen. It's a dead product.

I own Steinberg's Absolute Package - and I loathe their heineous UIs. Tiny buttons and menus all over the places.
I might be able to kinda get along with Groove Agent, though - if only I could map MIDI notes to pads freely, but that's not possible. It's always been a central part of how I was working with Battery.
Might not be as much as an annoyance in case I could see more than 16 pads at a time, but that's not possible, either.

I still want to demo Atlas 2, but comparing it to Battery is completely meaningless as it's a totally different focus.

Looking at Atlas 2 and XO - Yeah not these kind of, too much visual stuff, not needed stuff like sequencers, sample cloud visuals etc.
I think it is Live's own DrumRack next for us if Battery4 vanishes someday :)
Soft Knees - Live 12, Diva, Omnisphere, Slate Digital VSX, TDR, Kush Audio, U-He, PA, Valhalla, Fuse, Pulsar AUDIO, NI, OekSound etc. on Win11Pro R7950X & RME AiO Pro

Unfortunately no option for me. Would also like to use Logic's Drum Machine Designer (which, regarding some aspects, is absolutely incredible), but quite unfortunately it's missing some functionality essential to me.
For the time being, it really looks like a kinda tie between TAL-Drum and Speedrum.
