Anyone get this running on Linux through ya-bridge or something similar? I didn't see a demo or would try myself. Very nostalgic for me as a version 1 owner. Never though I'd see the day.

Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 6:50 am Such a button is definitely missing. The exciter with the heavy bass boost makes the plugin pretty useless for a serious music production.

Furthermore, there should be a button where you can run the plugin with 2x oversampling. Reason: My old sound engine uses octave-wise mip-mapping for the wavetables. If you play certain notes frequencies above 12 khz are missing. The cubic splines for sample interpolation and distrortion will also drastically benefit from oversampling. You can easily hear a big enhancement when you switch your DAW to 96khz.
In the meantime, please let people know the shelf frequencies and amount of cut and boost so it can be used to make serious productions by application of an eq plug in on the track of Vanguard. Thanks in advance.

Aha! There's an update available.

My account shows the latest update for Vanguard is from July so if anyone else is looking for a more recent update I'm not seeing anything.

Anyway I like Vanguard 2 a lot, it pairs very well with Tone 2's Warlock. Here's the Vanguard skin I use, not that anyone cares...

I really don't know why they bothered with a V2. It's such a dated synth, and has very little to offer over the original, or any freebie around today.

If the original was updated to work on all modern systems, that would have been sufficient for anyone wanting that crunchy retro sound.
How original

Thanks, all credit goes to CFA Sound for the original skin. You can purchase their 15 skin and 75 preset pack here:

Lots of great options to dress up Vanguard 2 to one's personal taste.... :tu:

Its on sale right now. Im tempted!

Re oversampling and a button to disable the exciter. Im sure i remember the original having both of these. The gui had a rear side with some settings
So v2 does not have these?

How many LP filters does it have?

This thing doesn't seem to get a lot of love from the market, and ReFX have been pretty flakey in the past, dropping products that they get bored with. If I'm honest, I'm surprised this is still available. I had to leave my ReFX synths behind when I moved to a 64 bit DAW. I still miss PlasiCZ! but not any of the others. Vanguard never interested me, it just didn't sound very full - not enough bottom end and a tinny top-end.

For those who own the "CFA-Sound MIMIC" Present & Skin pack (https://www.cfa-sound.com/products/mimi ... -ui-skins/) - unfortunately, the skins are somewhat broken with today's update - but I've been working on an update (actually a complete rework) of some skins for a few days now. Therefore, there will be fewer of them, but they will be of better visual quality. And well, it will take some days or more to finish it. Just as info...

I do own the skin pack and love the different variations so I'm looking forward to your new work. (I did find the receipt to Resonance Sound if you need proof of purchase.) Will the new skin pack be a free update?

To be honest I haven't called up Vanguard much since I purchased Nexus 5 but I still like having it in my collection.

I didn't even know there was a Vanguard update until I saw your post today but sadly yes it does mess up your old skins. :(

Yes, customers who already own it will, of course, receive the updated version for free.

It only causes problems with skins where the visual elements are directly integrated into the background graphics. But you can also look at it positively: a good reason to make the skins visually a bit nicer.

Cool, looking forward to seeing what you do with the new skins. :tu:
