I understand the need for developers to protect their intellectual property but don't make paying customers pay the price. You don't get to spew any .exes or processes on our systems just to protect your IP especially since the IP we create can't be protected....at all.

On my studio system I have just under 400 plugins installed and not one of them require iLok. I simply won't install it so obviously it's not a necessity, it's just a crutch for lazy developers or those who think using ilok makes them look like a "big player" in the biz.

I'm not going to get any further into yet another iLok war. Use it if you think it respects you as a paying customer. I simply will not at least on my most important studio system.
All their products are out there on the Dark-Sea too so their "protection" does not work as intended except for pissing off their Loyal customer base and i have given up on complaining as much as i did in the past because they won't listen to us anyway.

We’re not even allowed to be paying customers when it comes to buying BOSS Effects Pedals. Roland has decided to force people to “sail the dark seas” rather than let them buy their software.

I fail to see how that is good business.

Roland Cloud Manager app (3.1.20) is not opening for me since yesterday (macOS 15). I did not update OS or anything and even cleaned browser cache and history. I tried everything one normally would regarding uninstalling, deleting files, restarting, reinstalling, etc., but nothing is helping. It keeps getting stuck here.

I will try finding an older version of the app and see if it is the latest version that's causing the problem, but I think it did open fine before yesterday.

Anyone else facing this problem?

No. It's working fine here on 15.7.x.

Other than the RCM .app file, the 2 main places it stores things are /Library/Application Support/Roland Cloud/Cloud Manager/ and /Library/Caches/Roland Cloud/Cloud Manager/ in your user dir.

The first of those has the “RolandCloudManager-Core.log” file. You might look there to see if it’s complaining about anything? If doing a clean install, besides those folders, you also want to search out “com.roland" and “jp.co.roland” on the system, to find other (plist etc) settings if you hadn’t already.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I was not able to find “RolandCloudManager-Core.log”., but I did remove the relevant folders/files including the ones you mentioned which may not have removed by the uninstaller, but no luck so far.

Yes as I have already written above:
Teksonik wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 2:12 pm it wants to load at start up which is a huge irritant to me but of course it can be disabled.
Which I have done but go ahead and load a Roland plugin. You'll get this, the RCM.exe running:

Now if you're saying the RCM can be totally uninstalled then that's a different matter. I have not tried that yet.
I just tried it. I had just reinstalled RCM and the D-50 a few days ago and it was working. This morning I uninstalled RCM, tried to load the D-50 plugin and I get an authorization popup asking me for the RC password. I entered that, tried it a couple times actually since it wouldn't take it, but then noticed there also was a popup message saying "RCM not found. Please install first."

Ok thanks for checking that out. I was afraid it wouldn't work without the RCM installed. I really want to try the D-50 on my main studio system since it has a 61 note keyboard as opposed to 25 and a better audio device.

So the question is do I want to install the RCM on it or not. If I owned three or four Roland plugins it might be an easier decision. Hopefully there will be other plugins I want at no-brainer prices so at some point it will make sense to install then go through the steps to keep it from running at startup.

Or at some point I might just say screw it and install the RCM and live with yet another running .exe just to use the plugin I paid for...... :?

I’ve used it for a long time with only a couple issues. It’s not too bad I guess, but I wish they used something much simpler, like other developers (cough…cough… u-he). No RCM needed that way.

I just read this news:

Roland Cloud will begin phasing out the VST2 plugin format this month. In the immediate future, our software instruments and effects will be available as VST3, AU, and AAX formats. VST3 plugins are more efficient, reliable, and future-proof. Customers may choose to keep their VST2 instruments; however, Roland Cloud will no longer support the format. Furthermore, updating instruments in Roland Cloud Manager will remove unsupported versions.

Ok, thank you
