Easy Screen - Revert to unskinned, original UI

The new public beta has a LOT of custom UI's in Easy mode. While a lot of users will prefer this, I find it less intuitive because each easy preset now looks completely different. I'd like to go back to the unmodified UI's without the skins. Can this be an option?

I'm guessing the answer is 'no' but I thought I'd ask in case it were easy.

It's already there. Settings->Global System Settings->Custom GUI for devices

Awesome thank you!

Yeah, I totally feel with you. That's why I suggested Vojtech this option in the settings. I knew that I was not alone, hehe. (-;

Just bumping this thread as the reason I didn't see this setting is because it is not displayed or used in MXXX.

If you disable the custom UI's in, say, MSaturator, then open MXXX, add a saturator, the saturator in MXXX will still display the custom GUI.

Vojtech, you may want to get the MXXX modules to check the parent effect's setting here... or ensure MXXX has this setting added.

Thanks :)

EDIT - weirdly it's working now... I wonder if that setting requires a restart to take effect with MXXX, where it doesn't with the individual plugins... so I think we're good here.

They are clearly arranged and therfore very helpful. Especially those complex plugins like e.g. the Spectral Delay are much better understandable. And yes, they look gooood 👍

I use the custom UIs. It's a jarring change at first since I memorized many of the layouts, but I think overall they're a lot more beginner/user friendly for those who are less technically inclined. :)

Searching lead me to this as my last hope, but it looks like this important feature has been removed since this post?

Is there any other known workaround besides forced backpatching to something like 14.16?

Post

It's still there in 17.07, but under Plugin Settings

That's where some older manuals indeed show it, except it's just not there for me?

Weirdly puzzling and frustrating.

Maybe there some wrong config with my general MPluginManager install?
I ran into this after upgrading some older projects from 14.16 where the UI was still fine, and in something like MTurboReverbMB I can use the "Edit" button to get to the actual interface at least.

I've always appreciated Melda (along with companies like Valhalla, FabFilter or Eventide) for offering me a workflow without all the visual mess of awkwardly opinionated skeuomorphism, so forcefully removing that option after I purchased a plugin has to be some sort of bug right?

It's not a bug. You can always keep the version you like.

Wait, so is the setting "there in 17.07" or not? The only instance I could still find was on MSpectralDelay, every other plugin I've checked had nothing. Are you just asking chatgpt?

I wish, the bundled installers and MPluginManager constantly walk all over each other and outside of piracy this entire system prevents me from emergency backpatching just a specific plugin.

Staying on 14.16 globally would not only break a ton of my current projects (because old versions share the same ids but can't parse new state data), but also remove newer plugins I've purchased. I know this because I've already tried this for 2 hours yesterday.

So it's there in MSpectralDelay 17.07? Why would you assume the plugins where you can't find it had it in earlier versions? Are you hallucinating without even using an LLM?

Staying on 14.16 would not break anything. Why did you update and buy new plugins if you hate the GUI so much?

Anyway, the option was there on the plugins I checked. Not sure what you're doing.
