tbh, I got into the group buy mainly to get Pianoverse, which was a _big_ disappointment. one should not complain for the money, but WTF!... really? out of tune notes, severe volume inconsistencies between notes, limited dynamic range for the mammoth size of the installer, an hassle to download and install (as is usual with IK IME) and a unnatural sort of sound. disappointed, eve for a dime.martinjuenke wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 9:09 pm Redundant mediocre plugins, soon after upgrades for high prices, more filler than killer, just not worth the bandwith to download. Too many better alternatives. Sunk money. Deleted. Never missed.
Worst purchase

I got into the IK groupbuy because I purchased a Tonex One pedal. So basically, I've got everything for free.
Can't complain about that.
All their Sampletank based products (ST itself, Syntronik and Pianoverse) suck quite big time, though. They're all gone from my SSD by now.

I find myself using mostly MODO Bass, Amplitube, Tonex and T-Racks. Haven't even got to try Sampletank and MODO Drums properly. I was suprised how good the Amplitube Fender Collection 1/2 models sound for its age and also the Mesa Triple Crown in Mesa/Boogies collection. Great value for the money imo.Sascha Franck wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 3:37 pm I got into the IK groupbuy because I purchased a Tonex One pedal. So basically, I've got everything for free.

I basically like IKM. The GUI's are awesome, and I know that sounds shallow, "but I like 'em, like 'em, yes I do!
SampleTank has a really nice, easy peasy to understand interface, very clean and straightforward, I value that.
Amplitube and T-Racks are great.
Are some other products filler? And we could also ask Native Instruments about "filler"!

I like a lot of models in AmpliTube, but the older models aren't always that great. I could say the same thing about T-Racks. ToneX is good as well.
I never liked SampleTank though, nor their SynTronik line. Oddly I do like their SampleTron 2,
MODO bass is what I use when I want a bass guitar and I don't feel like plugging in. MODO drums is not bad but I don't seem to use it that much.
Their Hammond thing is pretty good too.
I never bothered installing PianoVerse because of the space requirements. I have more pianos than my keyboard skills warrant.

Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

I can't complain about the IK group buy. If your plugin folder is sparse, there's no better value I can think of. You'll probably replace it all down the line but $100 gets you everything you need in spades, and a few of the things you get are quite good (MODO Bass, Sunset Studios Reverb, tape machines).

There are a number of things from IK that are best in class that I still use regularly:
TONEX
MODO DRUM
MODO BASS
Hammond B-3X
ARC X
Stealth Limiter
Leslie Collection
The latest T-RackS effects are also really good: Triad Chorus, Dual Spring, Prism Reverb

I don't know if hardware is accepted here but, the Behringer LmDrum was an enormous disappointment for me.

I quite like them, too. But I bet you'd never buy them for any money even close to the regular asking price. €99 for a chorus? Nah, not really...jamcat wrote: Sun Feb 15, 2026 6:37 am The latest T-RackS effects are also really good: Triad Chorus, Dual Spring, Prism Reverb

Idk I pretty much never buy a plugin until I test it out before hand

As far as worst purchases, I still don't really know why I grabbed Oxford Limiter and Inflator. They work fine, don't get me wrong, but other limiters do the former's function perfectly fine and JS Inflator exists for the latter.

I have both of them and honestly never use either. Trilian is another great plugin, but it never really seems to fit into any track I’m working on. It’s well maintained and everything. It just doesn’t quite do it for me.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.
