ackchyually you can run anything, even muzys if you want! you plug in up to 2 monitors and usb peripherals. theres plenty of disk space and ram. why wouldnt you use it for mulab? ive been using tiny computers for years now and they work for music just fine.. they are pretty much the same as larger computers in most ways.

low brow users with green money all want to be told how to do it. its just part of human nature. just like all members of a cult who go through life with a chip on their shoulders :violin: it is what it is! do we want their money or not? we try to make mulab more popular in this thread! selling a widget is selling a widget.

@MuTools do you want more popularity or is the thread a waste of time and insight?

This is an interesting thread.
Thanks to everyone contributing.

I already draftly read interesting posts.
I'll (re)read more properly and respond on topic when i'm ready for it.
Currently focused on other important challenges.
It's not good to try to do everything at once.

Personally, I think the only real way for MuLab to grow, is to expand the dev team. Is that not something you are willing to do? I realise that expansion requires funding and after the muzys fiasco, once bitten twice shy, but something needs to change for anything to happen.

I'm not being negative here, I would like to see things improve and even for you to reap the rewards of your hard work of the last twenty odd years.

I can only see that happening with some kind of drastic change to the core set up. But that is not an easy thing to do. You can request funding in several ways from others. I'm not a social media type, so maybe I'm all wrong here. But what about things like kick starter? Is there something similar for existing devs to get support? Are there any vst devs that may have interest in helping or merging their products into MuLab? That could be a good source possibly. Let's say you spoke to a vst dev and one or more of their vst's get included in MuLab, you increase the price a bit and get paid for adding the vsts?

I also think a lot of users have old vsts that they don't want to lose. Many of those old plugins had unique sounds and fx that just aren't available today. Having the ability to use these expands mulabs creative ability massively. This gives users total freedom when using plugins, no limits.

Expanding the skinning to be similar to the old skinning system may not be good in all situations, ie, hi-res screens, but the current system is. But, I would allow both systems so that users can use either the basic colour system currently in place, or for those who dislike it to allow skinning system. Provide one or two well designed skins, which should appease those looking for the "pro" looking daw, while giving users the ability to change any aspect they dislike. Perhaps mixing and matching the current colour system with the full graphical skinning for the best of both.

This is obviously a lot of work, but as has been stated here and many times before, I believe it necessary, as many seem put off by mulabs current look and claim it looks toy-like. I see this as the only way to appeal to all users, which seems the way to go. Just my opinion.

Just put a fancy ux on the plugin ver, leave the main as a DAW maybe.

im fine with the look but users who havent bought it is the reason i think it could be updated

Just to be clear, to everyone, this is just an affectionate poke (in which I include myself). The community is too divers for such a constrained box. It is a little silly, that I am pointing this out. But humor doesn't always translate, very clearly.

I don't think I'd want to do a lot of editing, on a device like that; but you could. I can image several UI arrangements (custom templates) where MuLab could do some interesting things.

ackchyually you plug an hdmi monitor to it. and a usbc too! both as big as you want! i make similar stuff. i also make a module with no screen. but quite enough power for full daw duty. 2TB disk with 3800mbps, 16GB ram dual channel ddr5 @ 4800mhz, 4 core cpu 3.8ghz, 10gbps usb, 2.5gb ethernet, wifi6, btle. runs win11 or linux, x86, with this setup guide its very smooth, perfect for a tiny device to play from live, or whatever you do.

there are several handheld gaming devices that have similar capabilities and even more power and bigger screen that people use to run vcv rack etc. not my thing, theyre a little too expensive for me.

that's the thing with the mini device ; you can attach as many peripherals as you'd like , so you could even 'dispose' of the device (put it out of sight as JB puts it) and work through every thing attached

Where's Mulab discord?

This forum just aged bad, nobody (bellow 30's) visits this place, so while for us is ok, for the newest gen this is like a boomer's place, ("avoid it like facebook!").

The new fresh users resides on those social media, you know what I'm referring to.

my 2 cents.
