I remember I bought TC's EMT 250 reverb (and I use it!), mainly cuz Prince used it for example on Purple Rain and Linn Drum by Aly - never used Linn drum, though haha
And I bought more API plugins than SSL or Neve (don't like Neve), not sure whether because Prince worked on an API console at Sunset Sound and later Paisley Park.
Omg, I am just realizing I bought quite a lot because of him, also some different Mesa Boogie plugin amps, I wouldn't call them my fav ones, but sometimes I do use one of them and I had to have Yamaha CP70 plugin.

Exactly. I've often wondered how much developers pay some of these big names and how much of it translates to sales. I guess I know from firsthand knowledge and common sense that slapping an EQ or mastering plugin on my track isn't going to magically turn it into a production masterpiece on par with the artist endorsing it, but maybe people new to the game are sold on that promise or something?Vortifex wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 8:22 pm I don't care about endorsements or artist names on plugins. It makes no difference to me. I just think, "Oh, that's who they've paid to say they like it or associate their name with it".

Sadly there are plenty of people who make music (or at least try to) for decades and they still fall for it...cryophonik wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:12 pm but maybe people new to the game are sold on that promise or something?
