I think many Zebra 3 users are looking for something that comes close to the sound and experience of using a hardware modular in software, or even goes beyond it in some respects - regardless of whether one labels such things 'analog' or 'digital'.

How about, "Using the Mod Mapper to Achieve Analogue Beauty"? That's a damn fine title. Come on Urs, step up your game--you aren't spending enough time developing tutorial titles. Less time on development; more time on titles.
ffx wrote: Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:37 pm. . . but then there should be much more examples for its usage.
I don't think there is a constant that one must achieve in number of examples, but I'm assuming the mod mapper will be in more videos (IIRC, I've already seen it in another).
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Mappers are a concept that we use a lot in our plug-ins and which we recently brought to a new level of functionality. We will probably devote several videos just on them.

ffx wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 5:33 pm Again nice to see a video made by you, sharing knowledge how to use Zebra 3... On the other hand I already am able to tie my shoes, maybe the level could be far more advanced? This is a level above "1st step - how to breathe"
u-he's video creator Seb here. Let me voice a couple of thoughts. I have attended numerous trade shows (NAMM Show, Superbooth etc.) for u-he, and you'd be surprised how many entry-level users we have. We want to cater to a broad audience! Experts are invited to dig into our user guide PDFs which are deep and intense and very well crafted (kudos to Howard Scarr!). And as a matter of fact, we do have some deep and thorough tutorials on u-he's YouTube channel. I'm excited to see how any future Zebra 3 deep-dives will be accepted by our audience.

Of course, social media, stories, shorts etc. have changed viewer behaviour and expectations, and we are not blind to this development. This, too, changes how we approach videos. And honestly, it's great fun making these new formats.

We are already releasing more shorts, and that sort of content works great with entry-level, introductory material. And it's a great way to expand our audience! Urs has already explained why we're not ready to shoot more advanced videos right now, and even then we will continue to release videos which are fun and easy to digest.

But Urs has Always to say the word schwupp 😁

Yep, I've often used LFOs to slightly detune, distortion to get some grime in, even on digital synths. Doesn't make any sense to me not to if I'm looking for a "big" sound.

Post

I think the videos might only show sketchy possibilities of the Zebra3. But you can only show some of the use cases in this format. There might be many more, that haven't even been thinked of while developing. In comparison to other synths, Zebra-Concept is very flexible, modular. What is solved by trimmers in the diva synth (implemented hard wired), can be done by many ways in zebra3, which makes it more challenging. But this makes it more interesting.
There are already some tough workarounds on youtube with interesting workarounds (e.g. Arpegiator). Life finds a way...

Yes!

Nice tutorial.
Have a question: why use mapper instead of adding dedicated control to envelopes (or somewhere else), this analog-like behavior looks like quite frequently requested feature?

Please make even more of videos like this, they are super useful.
Murderous duck!

Because the principle can be universally applied. It can also be applied to filter cutoff, resonance, LFO rates, modulation depths, literally anything that might be different per voice. Whichever is the most desirable may depend on the actual preset.

In Zebra 3, what’s the best way to replicate the MS-20 emulation in Diva using the combination of Dual VCA eco + HPF Bite (rev 2) + VCF Bite (rev 2)? The gritty filters with those “howling” peaks are insane — it would have been great to explore that sound further with Zebra 3’s modulation capabilities.

I'd try "Yellow" with lots of Resonance and Drive (and maybe even a bit of filter FM).
OTOH I think "Old Drive" could also get you there.
